Can't wait. There's over 300 people confirmed that are meeting down the local boozer. Hopefully they're Brits as there's not much worse than watching football with yanks, Canadians or Aussies.

They better win or I will personally be ripping testicles..... I can't watch the first half -it's the only time we could schedule for the kids end of year soccer parties (all three teams same venue same time go me....) No TV reception expected at the pool

End of year soccer parties would be the perfect place to be watching world cup games. You need to get on it...now

I know... but the kids don't care -they want to party at the pool. So i went for a compromise... (because all the coaches want to watch)

I'm getting a bit bored of the "Why does the rest of the world like this game" stuff on the telly and "US sports are better" BS.
Looking forward to tomorrow.

I know what you mean. Nobody gives a crap that they don't care about football. Quite frankly nobody cares whether they have a team. They're about as important to football as the New Zealand or Canadian teams.

Its not that they dont care im america everything is MONEY MONEY there are plenty of soccer teams in amerca and plenty of interest. its just not and never will be a major sport as in NFL, cus the money isnt there no adds during the game will keep is a 2nd class sport here forever .
remember the NFL was built around advertizing revenue there are constant breaks so somebody can push there product , and even if by change the game goes on to long without a natural break the refs can call a *refs time out * so the adds can be shown

Not true John.
One third of the US population is Latino - guess which sport they prefer?
Also which demographic is growing the fastest?
Check back here in 25 years - might be a much different story.
I'm looking forward to Portland getting an MLS team next year - maybe I'll see Thierry Henry playing there for the Red Bulls?
So far, ESPN's coverage has been decent - certainly their best effort to date, although I notice that they got the rights to broadcast for about a third of what Univision had to pay for the Spanish language rights!

Watched the end of the France/Uruguay game on ESPN. Thierry subbed towards the end. Looking forward to the big one tomorrow. My other half had the nerve to ask who I'd be supporting???? Suffice to say he did not get a civil response!

that's the thing. I suppose because I work/socialize with so many immigrants my view is somewhat skewed, but I really think what I saw on CNN or the ha ha jokes on Stephen Colbert are getting to be old hat. Just because 300lb whitey doesn't get it.
During the 2002 I do remember having to go to Univision because the US channels wouldn't show it live. The GOOOOOOOL!!! thing was annoying but at least it was live.
