As a place to get together, meet other Brits, (Scots, Americans, and others) try English or Scottish Country Dancing. The links for Scottish are http://www.rscdsnew york.org/ and for English it's http//www.cdny.org/english.
There are weekly classes, parties and balls. It's a lot of fun and good excercise. There are also groups all over the world - so you can meet new people back home or in Australia, Japan France etc.
I've lived in New York for a long time but never knew these groups existed till recently. Hope some of you might like to check it out.
