Anyone up watching this. It is half time. Daft question I suppose lol
What a turn of events.
I am sat here on my own and can't even cheer because I will wake the kids. I keep phoning my sister back in the UK so we can watching it 'together' even though I am about 10 seconds behind them.
I watched, I cringed, I slumped sad
Dreadful passing - I've seen better far better play in Division Three. Once Owen went off, there wasn't a snowball's chance in hell of us scoring and it wasn't much better before that.
Credit to England for playing well up until this game but things just didn't go to plan last night and Brazil were not really stretched.
Thought that the sending off was ridiculous. I was sort of pleased at first but rapidly changed my mind. Red card for that was way out of line in my opinion but then perhaps from the ref's point of view, it looked quite serious.
This was by far the worsed effort by England at any time during this competition .
How the F**K can you expect to beat a team (especially one as gifted as Bazil) if you cant hold on to the ball ???.
I wanted to punch a whole in the tv every time Danny Mills cleared the ball by giving it to the Brazilians .
Micheal Owen scored a goal and then Vanished from the game (glad he got taken out ).
When will Ericksson see that Emile Heskey cannot play for 90 mins ??.
And David Beckham jumping over a live ball instead of clearing it .
Paul Scholes having another sub par game .
And all this with the Brazilians down to 10 men for a lot of the game .
One more time a promising England team has failed to step up at the crucial moment leaving their fans sad and disapointed .
England you should go home holding your head in shame .
END OF RANT 'nearly in tears here '

I signed on at half time didnt see anybody here so signed of again.
Well, I think it came down to pre-game stress that impacted on the England team. I’m sure they are thinking “if only this” and “if only we did that” etc. England went out against a very good side, no shame there.

A very good team of 10 MEN my statement stands sorry
I have to agree with JohnA on this one.
Yet again, England have a half decent run in a competition and then, just when we all start to believe they can actually play, they go and put in the worst performance of their lives when the best is what was required.
In the first half I thought we were doing quite well. We'd got an early goal and looked quite comfortable, then Beckham jumps over the ball on the touch line, Scholes (who to my mind hasn't played a decent game for england since France '98) lets Ronaldinho run the length of the pitch and we're back to square one on the stroke of half time. THEN, they come out for the second half and play worse than they did against Sweden. Continually giving the ball away and completely unable to make the extra man count.
I did think that Beckham was bundled over in the box, and it should have been a penalty, but there is no way Ronaldinho should have been sent off either.
Unless they can raise their game for big matches, instead of reverting to hit and hope we are going to continue to be dissapointed.
Sven still has some work to do I think.
I agree with Mr Pilgrim here. Certainly not a red card offence. Dire performance.
Sorry to say Scholesy was the cause of both goals. And even sorrier to say that Seaman should have saved the free kick - way too far off his line.
A sad, sad, sad day. And the hopes and dreams of 55 million people lie in tatters once more.
Andyy cry
Is it me or does Beckham not actually play any position for England, he just kind of runs around the midfield and boots the ball up to the strikers when he gets it. Sven needs to put some discipline into the team, if Beckham is going to play in the centre then pick a right winger instead of Butt or Scholes. England need a player who picks the midfield up on his shoulders and brings them forward (if only Gerrard hadn't got injured...again). Beckham is a great player but his talent lies in crossing and setting up from out wide, not in booting long balls in the air to Owen, who is about 4 foot 6 anyway...
Sorry to rant but its disappointing seeing a team of talented players go to pot when they get put under any kind of pressure...
Roll on the 2004 Euro championships when Joe Cole, Hargreaves, Gerrard, Wes Brown, and Defoe ought to give us some imagination.
George
The second half was definitely disappointing. I can't believe I got up in the middle of the night to watch our team lose. I really thought they had a chance this time.
I agree, also (not that I know much about footy) that the send off (red card) was not warranted.
I think the US v Germany was a better game this morning.
Agree with the points about Beckham and Scholes. At my school, Beckham might have been described as a 'donkey', the way he wanders about the pitch, his technical skills aside of course.
The English midfield were poor and the 'hit and hope' football was an embarrassment. I thought Premier League players earned millions because they didn't need to resort to that.
I hate to criticise just because we lost - but I wasn't happy with the tactics last night sad

Totally agree with yours and Pilgrim's sentiment. A pitiful display, Seaman should be embarrassed. What do you expect from a second rate goalie. He is no Banks or Shilton.
I am totally devastated. the only consolation is that the US lost. I couldn't take their crowing. They go from last place 4 years ago to a decent showing and they think they've conquered the world.
I hate to say it, but I agree basically with all the points raised earlier. What with the sending off and the dreadful performance, I just thought that England could have played better than that. We turned into this dodgy long ball team, but I dont think that Brazil was that better either, after the sending off they seemed to play better. I think I kind of agree with JohnA about Heskey, but I will say that Heskey is not a target man. He plays well when the ball is played onto his feet like with the goal against Denmark.Sheringham didnt play that good, but he never really had much service and didnt really have a lot of chances.
I think back in Euro 2000 our defence was a bit shaky to say the least. In the world cup the defence was far better.I think though that we did look tired,I suppose all that ball chasing in 90 odd degrees took its toll.I feel like I'm trying to make excuses for a bad performance!!
We do have a good squad but maybe we ought to revert more to the Rivaldo type game where we roll around and clutch our faces?
Do you think that we just dont have the clout to come out on the big stage and win the big games?
Well, I'm just gutted and a little disappointed, still, I'm not on my own!! I called today black Friday and I suppose its lived up to its name!!
all the best
Alan
I had a crap game of footy tonight with my international mates (I put it down to having played Wednesday as well, and depression!)
Anyway, my mate from Yugoslavia said I was "Emil Heskey" - summed it all up really sad
Look on the bright side, we may see a Korea v Senegal Final.
Make that Korea v Turkey
