Last Sunday I was watching the third Cubs v. Whitesox base ball game (Whitesox won the game but lost the series 2-1). A person next to me was fingering through one magazine, and then filling in some test exam paper and would look up occasionally when the crowd roared. She was with her friend who was an avid fan, spending a lot of time jabbing arms into the air and getting up and down with the rest of us baseball fans.

This morning I read about someone else who had a similar problem with soccer, and more particularly with the World Cup, “Confessions of a World Cup widow”.

OK, be honest, who else hates soccer?
Not me !!
Anti-football statements on a British Website?!?!?!? Whatever next? Totally un-British, especially at this special time.
Love it!
I was a Koppite from age of 9 until I left UK. These days, I follow every Liverpool game on their web site or go down to the local Brit pub for the 730am Sat. kickoff (bacon, bangers and beer included smile smile ).

Now the World Cup is on I'm addicted to any web sites I can find covering it (as TV coverage is so poor evil )

Hubby is starting to get a bit into it but he's a rugby man. I suppose its how you're brought up. roll
I suppose some people can't appreciate the techniques and skill. You don't have to have played or play currently but I think it can add to the spectacle when you see a particularly accurate, difficult pass that goes where it was supposed to.

My parents don't like football but seem to be quite into England's progress at the moment and have been filling me in on the goings on back home with their daily reports.

Me, I love everything about British football and it ranks above anything else in my life. I let it slide when I was married but roll on next season and some trips back there for games smile
I wouldn't go so far as to say I "hate" anything...

It's just not my thing anymore, I used to enjoy it as a little boy, especially the trips to see Arsenal with my Dad up to London..

I got out of the football thing when I discovered SPEED (no, not the drug lol )and found motor racing to be more to my liking, although I nodded off on the sofa the other night and Emily didn't wake me as she was getting into the US v Mexico game..

So tomorrow am might be a really early one as the match is followed by F1 practice..

<sigh>

Go Zimbabwe!

smile

I think it's very British...We're quite outspoken and not really afraid to say what we think..

Now, who hates curling?

Not me MacZee.

Since our gold medal at the winter olympics I think curling is just the greatest sport ever grin
I like football when England is in the World Cup final and when Gillingham is in the FA Cup final.

I like Tennis during the second week of Wimbledon.

I like American Football when the Patriots are in the Superbowl.

I like Baseball when (if ever) the Redsox get to win the World Series.

What does this tell you about my interest in Sport? wink

Although I don't get to go to matches now, I still hear about them & get sent newspaper cuttings. I'm a Sunderland supporter just like Horatio.
Horatio that's 2 less of us in the stands, do you think we make a difference eek lol
Janet
I do.
I do now ! lol lol
Given the England v. Brazil results ... does this make anyone hate soccer still more or a lot less?
