The Univision commentary on the England game was absolutely classic.

OK, I don't speak a word of Spanish, however the way those guys can speak at 50Hz and the contrast of the 8 syllables per second to the 8+ second "Goooooooooaaaaaaaalllllll" is remarkable.

It was great picking up the odd phrase like "Groupo del Muerto" and "Grande Capitan, David Beckham".

Another plus is that they time their commercials for other games so they are aired while the ball is dead and don't put intrusive ad's on an area of the pitch where the ball is.

Oh, and one more...did anyone else think the camera work was superior to ESPN's usual quality?

A complete joy. I for one, am now a Univision fan and will watch the rest of the tournament on it.

Es Scorchio...

Si senor, yo quiera Univision, es numero uno. Yay Inglaterra!!!!
The feed for the video is all done by the same organisation so it doesn't matter which channel you watch it on here - it is the same feed but I understand ESPN has more backup facilities if one of the satellite feeds goes down (hasn't happened so far).

I only know this as I was reading it in a trade magazine earlier this week whilst supposedly working.

I do like the enthusiasm of the commentators on Univision and agree that the use of computer generated graphics and advertisements is handled much better by Univision than their American counterparts.
This is the first time I have ever watched the games on univision and I have to say it was a wonderful pleasure. The enthusiasm of those blokes was just brilliant. Didn't understand a word they were saying until they mentioned a name I knew or said Goooooooooooooal! lol

I don't mind having to watch any games on this channel from now on, but I would prefer the ESPN, only because I do need some talk that I can understand in case something happens. I don't know all the rules of footy 100%

In that case I recommend a Sunderland season ticket. There you can see football reduced to its simplest & most basic level. You can watch in awe as the ball gets punted 70 yards up the field and 11 big blokes chase after it shouting and waving their arms.

Believe me I know - I am one! I have suffered for my sins.
Such a comment surely had to come from a long-suffering fan. I thought long ball only worked in the lower divisions though these days???

You're right - it does.

How about Univision deciding on the England / Denmark ma of the match and telling us all it was David "Spicey Boy" Beckham. Laughed a lot for 8am in the morning. I like watching Uni even though I can't understand just for the enthusiasm !!
You all are so right. David Spicey Boy Beckham sounds excellent in the Mexican accent.

Top marks to Univision.
Mike-elll Gooool-Win lol

Well they have at least one decent player Claudio Reyna. Hope he helps US win tonight
