I came to Ottawa from Barton le Clay Beds in 1963 and never went back.
Hope you make this country your home.
Good luck
They didn't exist when we came.
I accepted a job offer from Computing Devices of Canada ( Now General Dynamics Canada) in March of 1963 and sailed for Canada on July 3. When we docked in Quebec City, Customs and Immigration came on board and stamped our passports "Landed Immigrant" and we were officially residents of Canada. We sailed on to Montreal and then caught the train to Ottawa.
We hadn't planned to come to Canada, it was due to a job offer in the Sunday Telegraph on a winter Sunday in January 1963. I had to sell our house and organize the move in about 3 months.
We came with two children (John 6 and Ann 2). John is now working in Washington DC for the IMF and Ann is a homemaker in Montreal.
Never regretted the move and have made a wonderful life in Ottawa. I retired in March 1992.
