Hi there everyone,

I am Sheril (Brit - aged 32) and my am married to Scott (USA) We married in CT in 1996, he was my pen-pals brother who I first met aged 15 ( awwwww!) Used to love America ( visited NY, Boston, LA, NJ etc) but living there newly married and isolated - could not work (legally) or drive and began to hate it - mostly I missed my dog back at home, what was meant to be a 3 mth trip turned into a 2 year one after spontaneous marriage.

Fast forward to now, we think it is time to go back, I work for a local govt department, husband works for large Brit bank here. I love my part of the UK ( I am at the foot of the South Downs in between Worthing & Brighton)I will miss it with all my heart, as I think will my hubby ( it took him 2 yrs to even begin to settle here and he now sees himself as "half English" which is hysterical when he used to come home from work and say things like " what is a BLOKE ?" !!

Am terrified and excited of trying again, but will feel happier that my dog is there,my marriage is not "new" and I remember (almost) all the pitfalls of settling into American life.

America was where I first became hooked on the internet and although I didnt have my own computer then, I wouldnt contemplate living there without one, so that will also make an enormous difference to my life and of course I *have* to drive this time ( a lot of only turning right methinks!) I used to work for a really wealthy lady out there and she was a dreadful driver and only ever did the routes that took her right, quite literally around the block - I used to laugh , but I somehow think it will be me also.

In some ways I am very lucky, I have friends over there to support me and there seems to be a few ladies on here in CT who seem welcoming and open, I look forward to meeting you guys one day.

In the meantime, my green card has expired ( didnt realise the necessity of removing the conditional status malarkey!) and I forgot how hard it was to establish my bank accounts etc, so the advice on this board has been invaluable.

So - I have done it before, now I will do it again - fingers crossed for us !! And my thanks again to all of you who take the time and effort to reply to people like me

Best Wishes to you all.
Sheril.
