It's time to party on down to Texas to celebrate Britnet's 10 year anniversary!
Yup, for 10 years we've been helping Brit's keep in touch with each other, help with that home sickness, offering support and advice, a forum, links, and other great stuff.
What better way to show your love and support than to start saving those pennies for a P-A-R-T-Y!!!
I'm planning for either Saturday 2nd or 9th of August in Addison, Texas. This isn't too far from the main airport and is a great part of the area.
Please let me know if you can make it or not!
Both new and old members are welcome.
Regards
Nigel
Would love to but it's doubtful unless I can score a free plane ticket and place to stay. -(
Why don't we all meet up in England? Go to a few footy games, have a kebab and a curry and get pissed up on Stella.
Then we can see how awful England is and further justify the decision to leave our families for the extra money and bring our children as Americans worked out for us.
Because we already know how bad England is, we don't need reminding ;)
Thank you for the invitation, but unless hubby decides we are all going to visit his brother in FW, we won't be able to come. I hope lots of people are able to make it though! Perhaps you could webcam it so we can all join in virtually! Now there's an idea!
Good idea ill see if we can make it its not far . let you know in a short while

we will have spare time share accomadations on our hands and might be able to swing a deal for a large place where everyone can rest up .

Take I35-E up through Dallas and you can do a couple of things, join US75 north to LBJ (I-635) or Belt Line and go West. Or you can take I35-E all the way up to LBJ and then go west. From LBJ take Dallas North Tollway north to Belt Line and then head west. It's pretty easy to get to.

sounds like a plan sure I could make it lol as I am just down the road lol, geeze 10 yrs, does not seem like that
So.....
to date the most positive response is from... me...up in Michigan. Come on, people, where's your sense of adventure? Free plane Tickets? haven't you ever heard of a road trip? Awesome way to see the country. Need to be visiting family ? Aren't we family too? Is anyone actually going to be there to meet us? or should we forget it and bugger off to Yellowstone?
BTW, because of Beest's conference and swim team thingies, we would find the 9th better than the 2nd, Nigel.
Another thing we got from Britnet is our love of road trips. Our first year here, I asked what we should do for a vacation. Someone suggested go American and do a road trip. They were probably joking. But we did. With a 4yo, a 3yo and a baby. We did a 4000 mile round trip to Mount Rushmore and beyond. It was excellent. Since then we've been out East three times, to Florida, Across Tennessee, and last summer we did a 7000 mile trip aimed at the Grand Canyon, but we actually made it to Death Valley.
In 7 years we've visited 36 states.
Come on... try it, you might like it. Never occurred to us to fly down....
peeps, I need to know if this is a goer -we are totally up for it, but it is a big commitment, it would be our summer vacation (Haven't been to Louisiana yet either), but beest's mom schedules her visit round our roadtrip plans and we have a conference in Colorado to fit in.... let's see a little action in this thread, please. yay or nay? Don't wait until the date is booked and there's a week to go to respond. We won't build it and trust you'll come -you need to commit and then magically it will be built.
I won't be there.
That was a good positive answer
We might be able to but depends on a lot of work schedules/other commitments and when we take our trip back to the UK.
It would certainly be a cool road trip for us on the bike though.....will let you know soon.
Definite date is.....??????
9th August.
Due to the letharconomy aspects, there will be no hired room/banquet thing. This will be more of a backyard-type party or a pub meal deal. beest and I will be happy to bring the grills if we're going BBQ style.
We need someone localish to pick a place (be it park or pub) and find campsites/cheap motells/McMotels/Luxury Holiday Homes to recommend. Any volunteers? Nigel is too busy to dea lright now, but is willing to travel a short distance, so I reckon most of our Texan memebers are eligable to apply for thehost/organiser role......
