*Micheal Clayton *
had many nominations including best picture and starred the hollywod darling George Clooney .
seen one seen them all .
another version of the same old tired theme( little guy against corparate might )

see similar films same plot differant actors

The firm
Erin Brockavich .
China Syndrome .

One of the basic reasons i dont usually watch hollywood movies would,nt pay to see either of them in theatres ,glad netflix gave me the opportunity to plow thou them for a few bucks .
Just shows there is nowt as queer as folk. I watched both films and enjoyed both a great deal, especially Michael Clayton, great performances all round.
We just watched 'Rendition'. Great movie!! Of course its one of those wacko liberal left anti-torture movies that shows that strapping someone up and passing 50K volts through them is a bad idea.

I also saw the valley of Elah, and it didn't strike me as political at all. There are bad people in the military, just as anywhere else. It certainly did not seem 'anti Military' to me. Actually, it was my Republican father in law who ordered it and he liked it.
The Hollywood studios thank you for your royalty payments, which they receive through Netflix. mrgreen They will use said payments to produce yet more movies that you won't like but will watch anyway and the cycle will continue.

I haven't seen a lot of those movies yet but I did enjoy Erin Brockavich - it was a bit dumbed-down and speeded up compared to the real story but the gist of it remained where a David took on a Goliath and really (deservedly!) kicked their ass. Can't see the problem with a movie like that.
I watched, This is England, over the weekend. A really sweet film, apart from the violence and racism, but overall it was a good film.

I don't tend to watch American films these days, they're too, well, full of Americans.
It was rather impressive, though, how many non Americans won Oscars this year.

I have also seen Valley of Elah and thought it was a very moving story. I also thought both Tommy Lee Jones and Susan Sarrandon potrayed their characters very well. It's not anti Military, it just draws attention to the fact that the scars of war affect everyone involved.

Well, I saw 'Michael Clayton' yesterday and it was a very good movie.

Of course it must be a 'left wing' movie because the little guy stands up and pervails against a 'nasty megacorporation'.... roll D
I thought Clayton was good. Nothing special and see no reason why it was nominated for quite so many Oscars. I do not however, subscribe to the thought that it was typical Hollywood.
