Do you like to go to concerts? If so who?

I'm off to Tally in a few minutes with my two daughters and a friend to see a concert tonight with Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood...

Should be interesting, I enjoy watching the people too. Some make absolute fools of themselves... (not me of course P )

Will tell y'all tomorrow how it went...
I'm going to see British Sea Power next Wednesday. Their live shows are great.
Haven't been to one in a long time. I saw Sting play in Portland several years ago and KD Lang was the warm-up act.

A friend of mine goes to them all the time - he lives up in Portland on weekends so much more convenient for him. He was trying to get me to go to see The Police play in Vancouver, Washington and Elvis Costello is the support act, although The Attractions were replaced by The Impostors.

Probably the most annoying one to miss was when DJ Paul van Dyk played a small venue in Portland and I happened to be at an appointment nearby the day of - but it was completely sold out by then.
I saw Keane and Damien Rice play in Boston last may, superb.
I most recently saw tori amos play in Detroit in December, I thought it was ok, but didn't go for me......
Kate Nash is touring in April and wouldn't mind seeing her play.
Enjoy your concert Moo...

Pilgrim - We saw Sting a few years ago here, I actually dragged my husband to that one, and it was a great concert.

Last night's was fantastic, Carrie Underwood did an hour, she's cute, got a great voice. Then Keith Urban came out and did over two hours of concert.

Quite honestly we were shocked! This young man put on one heck of a class act!
He didn't have that brash arrogant attitude like most we've seen. You know - here I am, watch me, and I can't wait to get off the damn stage.

He not only moved off the stage, he had a walk way and small circle at the other end of of the civic center, and during one set, his band had set up their equipment there and he went down and played to the back of the building.

Then he got out into the audience for a song, that was brave with all those women crawling all over him. Don't know what was going on, but this one woman seemed like she was in shock. At the end of his song, he autographed his guitar and gave it to her.

He gave off a warm caring personality, and very talented. Of course my daughter said it was cause he's an Ozzie! Totally different attitude than most of the American performers we've seen.

Really enjoyed our night, including the long drive! 8)
Saw Carrie Underwood last Monday and yes, she was amazing, especially when she rocked out to Paradise City and sung Axl Rose under the table (IMO)! Her opening act was Josh Turner, very cute country singer with an awesome baritone.

The Friday before we saw the Spice Girls at Hartford...marvellous fun! I amazed myself at how many of the lyrics I remembered!!

Tried to get tickets for Lucy and her friend to see the Jonas Brothers (Disney's latest boy-band thang and opening act to Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus) but all were gone within seconds. Funny though how a shed load of them appear on ticket agency websites at up to $1000 each!!!! And they say they're doing the public a favour??? Mmmmm. roll

Debs x )
Oh Debs. I'm jealous, Josh Turner is adorable and I'd love to see him.
I read this thread and had to think about when we last went to a concert. After much tooing and froing we concluded the last concert we saw was Simon Rattle at the Davis Hall, San Francisco, with the Berlin Philharmonic. it was in 2003. roll shock
but then we have been a bit poorly in the intervening years.
However I remember it well cos it was a treat from him indoors who knew I had this weird, unknown and strange connection with Simon Rattle. i.e, every day at about 7.pm we would pass each other, going opposite ways at Marble Arch. Being English it took about three months before either of us waved from the back of the taxis we were traveling in. This went on for ages. Then we left, one day he wasn't there, one day I wasn't there.
So we went to see him, having followed his recorded work, could never afford his ticket price back home, and damn me if he didn't play one of my most favorite pieces at the end of the concert as an encore. He did an orchestral version of Eric Satie Trois Gymnopédies.
It was marvelous, awesome some might say.
We had a box thingy near the front which we shared with an American couple, the lady of which kept talking about BirmingHam, as Americans do, and which I couldn't really focus on, when they pronounce it like that I'm mentally in Alabamha.

Before that we saw Buddy Guy at Shoreline, and determined never to go there again. They've put plastic seats along the bleechers, the security look like thugs and money not music is the main concern. Shame really.
So, now you've brought it up, I guess we'll look at the winery and see who' playing there, although Bette Midler in Vegas sounds ike the best bet to me.
I'm knackered, they [British Sea Power] didn't go on until 11:45 and then they played for an hour and a half.

They were good though. They are playing a massive tour across the US and Canada playing in lots of small towns. I recommend seeing them if you get the chance.

Here's their tour schedule.
