Yes I heard that the latest flu vaccine is only 40% effective as the strains have mutated already.
The one we have came directly from a hospital and unlike other versions just makes your bones hurt. No runny noses, no sneezing, just heading straight for the lungs.
Mind i haven't had the vaccine, I use coca cola, cleans your lavatory pan and works wonders at getting rid of any flu bugs. lol

i work at a public elementary school, and i've never had a flu shot-- i prefer to build up my immunity the old fashioned way by getting whichever strain from my children. it seems more effective, and i get hit hard about every 4-5 years or so... i did get them a flu shot last year, because their asthma was acting up so much, but we haven't had a problem since... i don't trust the shots in general (paranoid conspiracy theorist), and i've noticed that all of my co-workers still get very ill, despite the shots. remember when everybody was in a total panic a few years back because the stockpile of vaccines was supposedly low?

My wife and I had flu over the weekend and now our little baby girl is in hospital on IV because she has our flu too.
No excuses for me not to get a shot next year. That wouldn't have prevented her from getting it though as the wife had her shot and still got the flu.

Fingers are crossed for the little one. Hang tough, I know how that feels.

Thinking the healing thoughts your way-- so sorry that the baby came down with it; my comments seem so fatuous in comparison! oops

She'll be great thanks for the kind thoughts. It's mostly just precautionary because she's so young. We just have to wait for the negative (hopefully) blood cultures before she can come home tomorrow. She's a little trooper and a darn cute one at that -)

Awwww Scramble, we have babies here that are Flu B positive. It really makes them miserable too.
Not much you can do but wait, some cultures grow quickly within the first 24 hours, but they usually want to see what shows up after 48.
