Going to my training ,have been selected to be a election official in the upcoming election .. ( primary )

there will be no hanky panky from either side at the poll booth I manage .
Good to hear! Then again, isn't Austin the beacon of hope in Texas? ;-)

Of course, any state that has polling booths needs to get with the times. Oregon leads the way again with mail-in voting - try Diebolding those results, Republicans!
I did that in the UK. Have fun! You'll find that most election folk are stay at home mums and retirees like yourself.

Pilgrim, sounds very lefty to me. It's "Like - why should we have to get up to vote, man?"

It's progressive - we don't have results called by Fox or CNN and it takes about an hour to finish counting the votes that come in in the last few hours. We're definitely not Florida here.

Anyway, 81% of Oregon voters prefer vote by mail and the turnout in the 2000 Presidential Election was 80% - results speak for themselves.

I think Washington state next door are more or less a vote by mail state as well.

For that the pay is $200 per day in NJ.

You are correct Dianey most of the poll workers are older retired persons some just folks with time on their hands , or general layabouts which ever you prefer to call them :-)

its a worthwhile job ,ideal for me just to make a few extra bucks thats not enought for a new car but my wife wants a lap top for her quilting club duties so maybe ill fund that .
