....credit card rewards points on?

Any one else got Chase? We've built up quite a hefty balance of "multipurpose" points, apparently, and some are nearing their "expiriy", but I don't feel like registering online right now to see what we can get. So what's the best deal you got and what card was it with? What's the most fun thing you ever got with your points? And the best deal? We haven't spent any of our points since we've been in the states.

In the good old days when we were students and airmiles were airlmiles, we got free flights to Amsterdam. It was new year and that was a blast.
I only just got a rewards card in November - already amassing thousands of points on it though and have enough for a $100 gift card for Best Buy.

Eventually, I'll buy a new receiver for my home theater as mine is starting to get a bit flaky after seven years. I think I need another $650 though so just about everything I do is going on the rewards card and I just pay it off when the bill comes due each month.
We got $200 worth of Barnes & Noble gift cards and used them towards the wife's college textbooks. Not too much fun but saved us spending the money.
We use a amazon C/C its only 8% but we pay it of every month .

we get a $25 gift certificate when we accumalate enought points and it doesnt take much .
use the money to buy books for my wife who is a avid reader , sometimes dvds for me as the order is always over $25 we get free shipping as well .

pretty good deal no interest paid on card , no tax and free shipping on items purchased

armchair shopping at it best .
8% is very good. I think all of mine have around 10-13% but I don't care, as I don't ever pay it anyway.
Store gift cards seems to be the way to go then. Better value than airmiles, would you say? Better to use the money to buy stuff you would have bought anyway and use the money you would have spent to buy plane tickets?

Either way if you travel a lot it would seem that airlines miles would serve you best , if like us you might travel just twice a year the airlines miles may expire before you earn enough for a free flight " of course you could always buy magazines "with them as the airlines encourages you to do .lol

my wifes sister would never have any card other then a airline miles one, they live in alaska and any flight they take they have to go though seatle and earn a few thousand before they get halfway to there destination . they go on at least two free flights a year ...

as i said it depends on your life style which is best ,the amazon points card is best for us .

I got a $50 Target gift card and then bought groceries with it. Not really exciting I know...........

Oh, and I have Capital One which I'm sure isn't the greatest credit card company in the world but it was the first that would actually give me a credit card when I got off the boat so I feel some silly sort of loyalty towards them. I suppose I should really think of changing but as I always pay it off every month I don't really worry about the rates and rewards too much. I only really use it for online purchases and airline tickets anyway.
I had several thousand air miles expire last month with American Airlines. I'd been very loyal to them until now but that pissed me off, especially as I had a bit of travel planned this year.

So from now on, I fly United who let me keep thousands of air miles for life.

Great bit of business there AA.
We never use credit cards. We take a certain amount of cash out of the bank each month and stick to a budget... so our "rewards" are our savings which are already sitting in the bank ready for when we can think of something we actually need... We do however sometimes use a debit card for larger items, but for everyday purchases we mostly use just cash.

It's only silly loyalty when they treat you badly and you still stick with them. If you're paying them nothing and they're doing you no harm I say stick with them. I think we have a capital one mastercard for emergencies (if Visa ever got screwed up and their cards wouldn't work...) They don't screw us around and so we keep it. If my visa won't swipe for any reason, i pay by that. they don't get any interest from us, but they get their unexpected % from the retailer. win-win. ;)

I'll be in my grave before we earn enough points to pay for my wreath, though, on that one.

huh... i can't figure out how to use my accrued miles/points with my credit card-- everytime i try, it tells me, "sorry, your request cannot be processed at this time" roll
We discussed this subject a few weeks ago . now a articule on yahoo about it in far more detail than i replied to the thread .

Good article - some caveats everyone should be aware of in there.
I have an AARP card through chase. I get the rewards in cash.
