Not exactly British, to say the least, but I had some for the first time the other day and really liked it. Does anyone have a good recipe? The one I tried/guzzled seemed to have lots of celery and carrots. Are there different types? I'd ask the friend who made it, but she's the type to bring over a vat rather than send the recipe (bless her generous little cotton socks).
