Any preacher on TV is in it for the money and therefore their statements and opinions are irrelevant. The sooner a sizable portion of USA realises this, the better.
This Rapture nonsense is akin to any cult with their "The end is nigh" mottoes. It is delusional at best and a terrible basis for government - if the end really was nigh, then I think the world would rebel against all government and anarchy would reign, so those in power would not be in power at the very end and probably killed off first, by their own subjects.
Regarding Bhutto - shocking news but realistically, it was just a matter of time I suppose. USA has made a real mess of this situation, backing Mussaraff for some years and then obviously getting uncomfortable with him and deciding Bhutto would in fact be more sympathetic. The obvious fix was to remove Bhutto, blame it on the universal bogeyman (Al Qaeda, who may or may not have carried out the brutal act) and basically go back to how things were. Even if Musharaff didn't order or finance the assassination, he's certainly profited from it and it appears his foot dragging over security contributed to Bhutto's death.
Tough loss though - there are a few world leaders that we'd be better off without (even if assassination is a most cowardly way to remove all but a tyrant) so to lose a smart, accomplished and mostly peaceable politician is very sad.
I think Al Qaeda would take responsibility for the sinking of the Titanic if they thought it would get the USA to shit themselves.
