Hi all

I am looking to move to the USA and have a science degree. I want to work in LA and am not neccesarily looking to work in science. I am hoping someone can help me

How do I find the jobs that are applicable to Brits without a current visa? Am I missing something because I am finding it really hard to get information!!

Please help get me started properly

Thanks
Milly
Hiya Milly

you don't really look for a job per se. if a company needs someone outside the country due to a skills shortage that cannot be filled with a USC then they'll headhunt.
I realize this post comes several months after the original posting, but I just wanted to add my two cents as well. Hpe no one minds.....

Jobs in L.A. are not scarce. As you already have a degree, you have some thing in demand. I dont think for an instance that you would have a problem finding a job. Do you have any particular preferences in what your ideal job would be?
Jobs in LA might not be scarce, but visa's are.
True, I can't argue with that!
If you have no other basis for immigration, you'll have to put your name in the hat for the H1-B visa programme - they only issue a set number of these per year, and they're already spoken for through 2009.

Sorry to be the bringer of unfortunate news, but it's really not easy to get into the US (legally) purely for work purposes. How about Canada? Takes longer, but is somewhat simpler.
Do yourself favor, stay at home. Really.

Not very adventurous. I used to dislike it here, now I don't, ten years later.

How do you know if you don't try though?

Hi
You have done a good question, it’s really interesting. If you get any good reply, so please let me know. So I’ll also get some good idea.
Thanks for your future help.
