Just realized that seeing at the clocks didsn't go back this weekend, it's going to be light at the witching hour (6pm). How the bloody hell can you TorT in the light? That's about as spooky as Casper the excedingly lame ghost.

I'm beginning to suspect that changing the clock-changing dates was nothing to do with energy conservation, it was a conspiracy to screw up this non-religious (and in the minds of some anti-religious) holiday! grrrrrr.
When do the clocks go back here? I was listening to UK radio yesterday and they were talking about it, which reminded me that we were no longer on a similar schedule.

As for your conspiracy theory, it sounds rather mild for the religious right and therefore not up their street at all. They prefer to misinterpret, revise history and generally try to convince everybody that they are fact-based - the reality is more along the lines of "truthiness".
They did this in the energy crunch of the seventies. There was kickback because little kids were walking to school in the dark, so it was changed back.
give the kids night vision googles and stop srewing everyone else around lol
My kids are going to school in the dark. it sucks.
Then call or email your senators and representative to complain.
you seem to assume I haven't. roll

I forget I'm pretty much the only on here at the moments with young but not tiny children *sigh*
I hadn't thought of that, although come to think of it, here it is pretty much dark at six even before the clocks go back. Our kids also have the day off on November 1st for parent-taecher conferences so even if they end up going out later they won't have to get up in the morning. Sorry monster.
Happy Hallowe'en!
Trick or Treat is mandated to be on the preceeding Sunday afternoon around here. So we are unaffected by the clocks.
To be honest, with small kids, it is much easier that way.
Luckily some of the surrounding towns are more traditional, and it is getting dark by six here now.
Well 'twas weird..... people came before 6 (first lot at 515!) I was still setting up, hadn't even opened the candy, so I told them I'm not ready yet. She argued about it (!) I said I don't start 'til 6, my porch lights aren't on yet, and she said... "the newspapers daid it started at 5". WTF? I don't remember issuaing a press release?

The next lot came shortly after and then it was very quiet until it got dusky around 645. that when I set out with the kids, and as we left, I saw beest being inundated lol We reckon around 150 tonight. Including all the uncostumed adults with pillowcases... eek lol
