hi,
we're thinking of moving to north cyprus. So far i've been checking out some property opportunities there but cannot seem to find out more information about the projects.
do you think at this stage i need to fly out there to see the property or is it enough to read about it to make the first cut? i can't seem to decide between properties.
here are some examples of properties i've stumbled on and liked:

i'd be very grateful if someone could assist me or give me advise on how to find out more information.
thanks.
I have never been to Cyprus but I have heard it is a nice place. It was the base for the Anglo- Iranian Oil company to send it's employees for vacations.
I would rent at this stage rather than buy, and I would also check out, if possible, what the Turks plan to do shock shock

i'm looking for something with a big garden
Having suffered some of the traumas of buying in Northern Cyprus (I'm not out of the woods yet). I would advise utmost caution. Get EVERYTHING CONFIRMED IN WRITING BEFORE YOU SIGN ANYTHING.
IMPORTANT
a) Does the seller own the land?
b)Does the developer have the right to develope?
c)Is the land unencumbered with debts?
d)Does building permission exist? If so does it agree with what is actually being built?
e)Are the property boundaries agreed and officially recognised by all neighbours?
f) It might seem ridiculous on an Island with such little rainfalll, but Dampproofing and waterproof rooves are still usefull.
g)power supply. Don't get pissed around with "oh the power company have run out of meters so here's a temporary supply" DO NOT ACCEPT or you'll never get connected. I'M travelling out there tomorrow to try and sort the mess out. Unfortunately I didn't sget all the above in writing. They will lie to you all the time just to take your mioney and literally run off with it. There is little you can do to stop them. Legally you can get a judgement but no one will enforce it. SAee other letter and Blogs on the Cyprus .biz site. If you want more assistance send me a mail rpm@icy-online.com or contact over my website http://www.i-see-why.com

The OP looks suspiciously like a sales pitch and I have resisted responding because of this.
However, I should remind people that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is not an internationally recognized State. It is territory of the Republic of Cyprus, as EU and UN member that is presently illegally occupied by Turkey.

Regardless of your views of the recognition of the Northern Cyprus regime, buying property there is extremely risky and should not be done without independent professional advice and proper consideration.
i did not think about getting a property without getting a lawyer involved of course.
It's really sad to hear that people get ripped off in this day and age, when it comes to such big purchases as a house.

Anyhow, hope everything turned out ok.
I found north cyprus to be charming and would really like to leave everything behind me and go live there. Hopefully in a villa with a big big garden.

TRNC Property purchase German couple assualted by TRNC Builder in Lapta
On Thursday 18th October last week, we who are in the process of purchasing a house from a TRNC Construction and Design company, were subjected to a brutal and unprovoked attack by the manager of the building company demanding payment. Had the "Brit Cyp" from London not intervened then I would have been a hospital case. The company is, at present 14 Months behind in it's obligations to the customer. Any who were present at the Aytalar market in Lapta at around 7 pm will know the name of the company as the aggressor and his father shouted the the company name often enough before they sped away in their black Mercedes ML. I can only advise people to stay well away from this firm.Unfortunately, due to our return Flight to Germany that same evening, I had no time involve the police or to press charges. I sincerely regret not doing so. This kind of behavoiur can and must not be tolerated anywhere even in TRNC.
