When we were children we would regularly go and collect brambles and bring them back for mum to make a pie or jam.

When my kids were little and we still lived in the UK we used to do the same. Occasionally we found wild blueberries as well.

Does anyone know if there is something similar in the US? I would love to be able to go wild fruit picking. Or wild veggie picking.
We had wild brambles and raspberries in the backyard of the house I just left. I threw some away that we froze. I know they pick wild blueberries up in NE.

Our metroparks have a lot of blackberries growing in the wilderness. You're usually supposed to 'stick to the trails', but if you go out picking with your kids, they won't think you're some pervert or killer hiding in the bushes.
