Is it me or what, but does it seem that tires wear away alot quicker here than the UK? I have had to change a complete set of tires 3 times since I have been here. I never changed a complete set in the UK ever. So wondering why the differance
We need make, milage and car info.

I have had terrific wear on a 84 Honda Accord when I had it only 2 sets of tires, total, and that includes the original set on the car.Total miles over 300,000 miles.I wrote to Michelin about it , they said it was par for the course for their tires.
No, I don't think so. I know in the UK we had a minivan with special tires that wore out quickly compared to the ones we have here on the minivan.

One thing I do know is they are a lot cheaper here than they were in the UK. So even if you do find they wear out quicker, if you get two sets for the price of one and they wear out twice as fast, you are at the same place as where you started lol

We've found completely the opposite.

Overall lower air pressure in UK means less downward force on the car, less friction therefore less tire wear.

I'm just talking out of my rear oriface -)
I had Michelin's wear out at around 50,000

Not that I know anything but...
tire wear is affected by maintence (checking tire pressure regularly; driving style and driving conditions.

I suspect for me, the dramatic climate changes we get hear from winter to summer, must put some stress on the tires. Additionally, the snow and ice affect traction and that, in turn affects tire wear.

Of course I could just be wrong.
had a megan in the UK and never had to replace a complete set before. I am a fuzz pot when it comes to tire pressure and alighnment, so its not that. Thought that the roads were just more abrasive here. More concrete less tarmac

There could be something in this with a combination of heat according to this article:

Number 7 is about avoiding overheating in tires and it metnions the coarseness of the roads.

I mostly go by boat or bus these days. So I'm thinking of getting rid of my car and just using Zip Cars for dates and trips.
