When Craig Charles from Red Dwarf was accused of Rape the BBC did not show any of his shows. Only after he was found not guilty they started putting them back on again.
He is being held in custody pending sentence, a sure fire sign that the judge intends to incarcerate him (he was free on bail during the trial).
Hopefully he will get sent to the sex offenders unit for treatment prior to any release. He made no admission or acknowledgement of having any psycho-sexual issues during the trial.
I've found this very difficult to "get my head around" I mean I really liked his comedy, and I understand that the abused often abuse, but somehow, I don't think he did, and it's all a bit odd.

The issue is not thoughts.
The issue is that he possessed images of REAL children being abused. Therefore he was supporting that abuse (sort of a market economic argument). But for him and people like him downloading this stuff, these children would not be abused.
In the US, the prosecutor has the additional burden of proving the images are of real children and not CGI - which is actually very hard to do.
