I just read this and had two thoughts.

"So waiting for the Dolphin swim at Discovery Cove in Orlando, my daughter Nikki and I were seated with a Brit family--mom, daughter and son. After small talk about the great value of the pound vs the dollar etc, I mentioned that Churchill was one of my heroes. The son, no more than 16 countered that he really liked Hitler, and his sister Gandhi. I was stunned and sickened.

According to him, Hitler was a great leader and did great things for the German people. He brought them out of depression. His quest for land was only to provide "living space" for the German people. The reason for the London bombings was because Britain "carpet bombed" German cities. Hitler had to attack France, for they were a treat to his effort to gain land for living space. The atrocities of the Holocaust were attributed to the fact that he was "mad", so it wasn't his fault. In general, his intentions were noble.

In speaking privately with his mother after my discussion, she stated that this is the new curriculum in the British schools to combat "prejudice" against Germans. They teach the children not to "judge" Hitler."

1 - Really?
2 - I don't believe that for one second.

I hear hearsay all the time about the US, and did so about the UK whislt in the US. I'd say 90% of it was utter bollocks. But that, that has to be a piss take. Right?
Sounds like the son was taking the piss.
Probably one of those bullshit emails that is sent to put the wind up people to think the country is becoming too liberal.

It's bollocks, this story never happened.
I'm pretty certain that if the national curriculum had been changed to ensure children "did not judge' Hitler, the Daily Mail and the Telegraph would have alerted us all to it by now.

The story is either total fiction, or the kid was taking the piss or is a total plank.
Turns out that, in fact, Hitler is to be dropped from the curriculum altogether, along with Churchill.

"There was consternation, though, that Winston Churchill and Adolf Hitler's names had been omitted from the list of historical figures to be studied, a decision described by the Conservative MP Nicholas Soames as madness. But the QCA and the Government pointed out that study of the First and Second World Wars was compulsory and it would be impossible to teach those topics without studying Churchill and Hitler."
Americans are knobs.
I've known lots of people who were knobs - unfortunately most of them were british roll
depends on what they are teaching as historical fact.

Churchill bombed the first German city, due to the fact the germans got lost and unloaded on London. Germany then took a policy of bombing the civilian population in the Uk. Was a tactic they learnt from the Spanish Civil war where they bombed and killed thousands.

The position of greatness, depends on where you were on this planet at the time.

Hitler gave the people what they wanted to hear, but supressing the truth by controlling the free press. Killing off those that spoke the truth. Thus the german people were not aware of what really was happening plus he played the proud to be german card as well. Many dictators do the same throughout history.

People get sucked into something in a big crowd, even though they don't really know what they are cheering for and by the time they do its to late.

Ultimalitly you can never supress the truth, so the allies won

Trying to change the facts of history is a major problem as the PC Sh*t suddenly becomes fact and we end up repeating it all again.

Could it be his teacher was sympathic to Nazi party lol, yea just never know these days lol
