Happened to this forum? Admittedly I don’t visit that often and post even less but normally when I do visit there’s something like 200+ posts since the last time, yesterday, it was less than twenty today it’s two.

Flicking heck, could it be the all too obvious prickly replies when strangers dare to post here? The infighting? Or the closed club type feel of the site? Or that most of the innovative posters have returned to the UK and are not as prolific as they used to be.

It’s a shame really because it used to be a source of information and entertainment for me.

Yeah, ok I’ll go and look elsewhere and I’ll close the door on the way out…
Instead of complaining about the lack of postings -why not start a discussion - this is a community after all.
Granted the level of postings dropped but there's still people here that post regularly - not everybodys moved away. Some of us are settling into our expatriate lives better now we've been here there or wherever for a few years and don't need to find others in the same boat quite so much. as for it being cliquey, just involve yourself - you can't sit around complaining from the sidelines that nothings going on yet not post anything. If you feel so passionate about it, post something, even if its only to complain about the weather grin
Some folks have a lot of things to do during the warm summer months.... and sitting in front of the computer can take a back seat.
When the colder weather arrives, maybe more folks will be back to the forums. wink
How do you join a *clique * here *???

POST POST POST and then you become a charter member of the * group / cligue / members , who post a lot ... -)

dont be a *just read * member that is the biggest clique of all and the one less appreciated .

posting is open to all and as far as i know no restictions on # off and none on subject athought for obvious reasons there are SOME restictions on content ( insulting rudeness etc )
You do seem concerned about the activity here as a LOT of us regulars are .

SO POST .. AND REMEMBER
if you are not part of the solution you are part of the problem .....
there has not been to much going on, but we are here lol. I must admit I have not been posting my deep and meaningful questions as of late, but thats due to long days at work, hopefully I will address that lol.
But other posting stuff would help to lol. Good or bad, one beer to many or not lol, but post post post
Actually, we all just post in a special nice-people-only mode which isn't visible to occasional drop-in whiners mrgreen
Yippee there is life!

You know, I love this forum and have been a visitor for a few years now. I was gutted when I visited a few days ago (after a very long time) and found only 20 odd posts since my last visit.

My post was deliberately provocative and I’m happy to note the replies, all of them.

Actually, I found that a lot of the discussions were more or less concerning things happening in the US (obviously) which of course left me out a bit but the Political and religious issues (as long as they were general) were intriguing.

There’s been some great debates on this forum and the input from different and opposing views has been a real eye opener sometimes.

To be honest, currently I’m a bit busy but I do post a bit on forums a bit closer to home but unfortunately I can’t get too involved in something because I don’t really have the time to follow it up, altogether now Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

I’ll probably remain a lurker but if I do get a bit of time I’ll try and post something interesting or give you some views on life in Asia / Malaysia, which ain’t all it’s cracked up to be I can tell you.
Hey, you know I love ya, dude. ;)

It has been really quiet, but I'm not overly surprised here's the deal

1) internet forums are no longer the only source of info for new expats -there's a wealth of stuff out there on the web
2) we (and other forums) are archived and the archives are accessible -no need for people to even register never mind post to find their answers
3) We are America-heavy, and those of us here no longer bother getting outraged about the stupidity of those allowed to vote
4) The main posters on here when the forum got this format were mostly relative newb expats. Now we're old hands. Not so much need to seek out other Brits, even though it's still fun when we find them.
5) I'm so fricking Americanized, the first 6 weeks of my summer are taken up with summer swim and dive teams. Championships this week, no time to think never mind type them thoughts.... lol

Ha ha, that's why I love this place

It seems to be happening everywhere just recently, post count dropping, regulars not posting and so on.
I agree with you, there are now a lot more sources of information and huge archives of valuable information for people to read.
We don’t get seasons here it’s 27 to 33 degrees all year round but I imagine that (as you said) summer time is so busy it’s pretty hard and probably a bit daft to sit in front of a computer during the day time, unless you really have to.

Don’t tell anyone but I only post during office hours anyway, in the evenings and at the weekend I don’t post anything

My mate from England has been visitng so we've been out on the piss all week and hanging out at the Number Five Orange.
Moo, I must say I look forward to your caustic comments in particular grin

I don't get the number 5 orange though? but I do understand the necessity to get out on the piss when your mates visit 8)
Number Five Orange is a dancing club where the dancers are particularly friendly. ;)
