Respected soccer broadcaster and former Canadian national team goalkeeper Craig Forrest has joined the CBC Sports broadcast team for the upcoming Major League Soccer season and the 2007 FIFA U-20 World Cup.

Also joining the CBC Sports team are experienced play-by-play announcer Nigel Reed and reporter Mitch Peacock.

"We're very pleased to welcome three of the top soccer commentators in Canada to our broadcast team," said Scott Moore, the executive director of CBC Sports.

"Craig, Nigel and Mitch are renowned for their passion, knowledge and commitment to the sport and will play a big role in helping CBC achieve our goal of providing coverage of Toronto FC and the FIFA U-20 World Cup that is second-to-none."

Here's some background info on Nigel Reed........

Quote:
Reed brings more than 20 years experience covering soccer in his new play-by-play role with CBC. He has worked as an analyst and reporter for the 2006 FIFA World Cup and enjoyed a five-year stint with the BBC in London, covering English giants Liverpool and Everton.

Reed is also known in Canada for his work at Toronto's Fan 590 and as the voice of Italian Serie A on TLN.

Talk about keeping your candle under a bushel........ at least you could have told us Nigel!!!
And Moo would've made a better colour commentator than Craig Forrest

Who's next?
Is John going to be the voice of the Houston Dynamo?

Does anybody watch the MLS? Its like watching school boys play?
I think Beckham is regretting coming to the US when it looks like his career is getting back on track. It'll be the death of it coming here.

I blame his dopey wife.

  you never know what tomorrow may bring .

The MLS seems to be all about good old fashioned coaching, talent and tactics winning rather than the club with the most money. However, the American crowds never really seem to get into it at all so it is seriously lacking in atmosphere. I do also think it is the same quality as maybe the Championship or League 1.

I really think they also need to do something about the structure. Playing a whole season then having the top 4 of 6 or 7 reaching the playoffs is dumb.

I watch MLS, Ive watched it for a few years now. It's been pretty interesting to watch the MLS and footie in general grow over the last few years. I'm not going to lie, sometimes it's pretty desperate to watch some matches but there have been some entertaining games, but there again watching Man City, Bolton and Blackburn games have been as bad at times this season.

Toronto's been averaging near 20,000 fans at their home games, and from what Ive seen on TV it's been a madhouse!!

I agree with you about Beckham Moo. What with the aftermath of the World Cup, being dropped and then benched by Capella Beckham must have thought that his England career was over, and now that he's back in the spotlight playing well for Real Madrid and back in the England fold he must be having some second thoughts? I think the trouble is that contracts have been signed and there's a shitload of money invested and hype with the deal and I think if he could delay the move for a season or two I think he'd jump at the chance. There was even some speculation about Beckham being loaned out, but LA.... i.e. Lalas and co dont want to gamble with a possible injury.

I dont know what to say about posh spice?
Maybe she's in Hollywood reprising her role as Tiddler in the ITV kids series The Riddlers?

lol lol lol
Surely not though as Tiddler has a personality mrgreen
