So, are you going anywhere this summer?
I love road trips me.
We are going to St Louis, so across boring old Kansas to see Mr Dianeys brother. We are then going to drive down to Orange Beach, AL to see my outlaws on the Redneck Riviera. All the sun, sand and Fox News I can handle!
One good thing about being a Brit, at least we've always seen worse gas prices than the natives!
Well, road trips are kinda out these days.
I'll be crisscrossing the US covering bike races. Next week Lake Elkhart in WI, then it's off to Mid Ohio, then possibly off to Assen for 4 days, then back here for the USGP, then the week after off to Mid Ohio, back for two days then back to Mid Ohio for the following weekend.
Then it's off to Virginia, Road Atlanta, and then back here for the last race on the US calendar at Laguna Seca.
Then possibly off to Japan, followed by Australia then off to Spain for the last round of the MotoGP championship in Valencia and an additional 10 day holiday in Barcelona. Then it's back home and rescue a German Shepherd dog time!! Woohoo!!
Then I'm only gone for 4 days in December for tyre testing and then home and no travel of any consequence until March!
Yay!

Assuming the wife is well by then, a trip to Colorado. So we'll also be driving through Kansas....I've heard Kansas is beautiful ;-)
OH YES.
It's the big one. Grand Canyon here we come (in August shock ) Passing through St Louis and your neck of the woods at some point. we should coordinate calendars and see if we can bitch over a pint instead of the phone mrgreen
Grand Canyon here we come.....
It's awesome! Husband and I spent a couple of days there (South Rim) at the end of last month. I was well impressed. Wish we could've stayed longer.
No plans for summer, but planning a European vacation in November. Not the best time of year, weather-wise, to visit Europe, but it's the only time my husband can take a vacation. Still, we did quite a bit of travelling while he was home (from Iraq). WI, AZ, MO, SC & GA. Need a break to recover and build up some stamina to tackle Europe.
Road trips are cool. Doesn't really work in the UK cos its so small- I'm a convert now after two years of traveling all over. Hell, even here in WI we've taken big old trips to the nether regions of the state. Went up to the Door County peninsula this weekend, found a store run by an Anglophile called Made in Britain. Sold the usual gubbins (Tube maps, hob nobs and tea towels) but scored big on some huge jars of Branston. Heh heh, was kind of a popular shop with the natives too.
Went over to the Mississippi last weekend and Dubuke IA, very green, nice views and a funky bar down by the river.
Now were here permanent gonna go and check out the big air show this year over in Oshkosh or wherever..

ooh you need to get together with Fernietickels. She's something to do with organizing it, I think....
I'm off on a fact finding tour of the lost city of Aergait 8)
I am staying here. The weather's finally got a bit warmer and girls clothes have got skimpier.
Apart from the odd trip over to the coast (about 90 miles) with Mr. Melhug, if he is well enough by then, and maybe the occasional trip to Redding CA with a friend of mine I have only one other outing planned this year.
In august I go on an annual retreat in the wild with about 100-150 other folks like myself. This year it is probably going to be held in Washington state.
When I say wild, I mean it. We even dig our own facilities! But we have fun!
