We haven't seen a lot our friends like, Pilgrim etc. around much. And the activity on the board seems really quiet.

Is this the end of our community?
I know I don't post much these days...only because I don't have much to contribute! Doesn't mean that I don't check in several times a day though.

I think we're just going through a big lull in proceedings....bit like cricket! wink

So c'mon, Moo....you start by posting something controversial that will get the hackles up and we can have a big debate/feud......like Rosie and Elisabeth on "The View"!!

Debs x smile
Maybe.

Nobody has posted a good God thread in a while. Or one that says George Bush is an OK bloke and you wicked liberals keep picking on him.

That and all the loony fascists left the board in 2004.
Life changes dramatically for some people.
Those who used to post and use this site as a crutch, may have found something to fill the void.
Some just get bored.
Some just have no more to add somedays.
I don't know why it dries up in periods during the year, this is the end of school, parties etc end of sports, combined with graduation and work committments will always get in the way of hopping on and adding a quick post or two.
Some of us have been watching the lowering of activity on the board for a while .
i never use to bother with the stats page but have watched the last 6 months and seeing the # of posts # or new threads , and visiters to the site go down in numbers month by month .

idont like to talk negative on here but the usual trend is for the site to show less activity for a few months and then pick up again with some contraversial threads .
( not that i would ever post anything like that )roll wink

as was pointed our earlier some prolific poster have left us *permanetly or otherwise * they didnt give a reason they didnt have to . some of them where poster then stated new threads which is one stat very low at the moment .

we can pull together and keep this place alive " we have to ive nowhere else to go" LOL LOL . otherwise the US may see a bunch of bewildered brits wondering aimlessly around looking for something to do JJ guys lol

in my meantime i can get some of you left winger crazies of your asses to answer my threads.
the place seems somewhat lacking in rightwing nutters and our god fearing members seems to be praying quietly lately

lol

see new threads .
Well I think the only way I can post here is if I'm doing something else on the computer at the same time. A response time, well it's not a response, it's a notification box, can't find the server, and then if you get here, like now, I decided to reply to this thread and pressed the reply button, it took over 7 minutes to get the page to turn.
I think the wick in the engine's gone out. The elastic band is broken, the servers ain't worth a stuff.
This should be a fun site, fun evaporates if you have to wait in line for ever to get in.
Hell, even the trolls won't wait. We're so secure we're isolated. lol
hope bloody not lol

Have to have some good old british debates and arguments lol. Is the only thing that keeps sane lol. To know that people can debate without name calling is something that seems not to happen here.

What an arse rofl
It's not dead just closing it's eyes and resting for a while.

Problem as I see it is none of us are new expats now. There are fewer questions and experiences to be asked, answered and shared now.

We are like an old family, spread out and only get together now and again for reunions.

Hmmm...... there's a thought for a new thread...
Without wishing to cause a firestorm, albeit at a dignified pace, maybe we should revise the rules of " please look up the archives" when someone asks a dumb question. It's only dumb to us cos we know thru experience and time here the answer. If folk wanted to look something up they could find better places than here. They're asking not just for info but our reactions, to see if what they're feeling is normal. Hell, remember when you first got here, I remember when I did, I thought the whole place was weird.
Also, we have the kind of country now that no longer welcomes immigrants.
On the converse side, Annie, perhaps people are not posting because they are finding the answers in the archives now that they are so comprehensive. However, I think if you look back, you'll find the only recent redirection to the archhives was to head off a possible trolling and I think you'll also find that topic was thrashed to death at the time.

I am not experienceing any posting delays, so whatever you have going on is a local problem

As to why it's quiet? could be less new immigrants. I keep an eye on all expat boards and have noticed they seem to have dropped in new membership too. The post #s remain similar, but they have more fluff and BS posted and answered by the same people. We're mostly not the fluffy BSy types -that's how come we all ended up here.

I've been spending time on The Cellar, which is amusing because it's full of gun-toting bush-lovers. I've been posting less here because the minute I state a remotely controversial opinion someone calls "moderator abuse".
Oh I hope not. I don't post much at all these days simply because I'm on the other side of the world now & not sure if I have anything to contribute to a mainly Brit/American board. I do check in for a look now & again but because of the time difference you're all in bed  I have a job now ( & oh does that interfere with internet time) that & we still live out in the sticks so are back to being on super slow dial up.

Boy we've had some laughs on here & supported each other when we've had our down times & it's so nice to see a lot of the old faces posting still. Nah Britnet won't die.

Holy shit there are are alot of those guys over there aren't there? That site is a damn fun read.

I used to be an avid lurker on this site from 2000 - 2002, and I come back maybe once or twice a year to see if there is anything exciting to read. I'm amazed at how the site has changed and grown and yet it's always still the same names which to me, is incredible. It's cool that you are all still cyber-friends and maintained the spirit of britnet by being friendly but not fluffy! Hope this quiet spell passes and you all find new things to discuss and argue about.

Don't know how you've all managed to stick it in the States though! Lisbon is much better 8)
