If so, what was it? And, was it good?

I've heard that some companies will inundate you with marketing calls, and as its for an old granny type who buys anything from these people, I don't want that to happen.

I was thinking of steak (I'm not that squeamish about eating my fellow moos) or seafood, but if you've had other things that was good I'd reconsider.

Cheers.
Is your recipient British? If so - I have before now shopped online and sent a box of british food to my aunt in Arizona. Highly recommended as sometimes we don't always want to pay out for this stuff, and to get as a gift would be a treat. grin
We have had some experiance of that .

My wifes sister lives in alaska and from time to time we order some alaska salman sent to us . its better quality then anything purchases in your local store and the cost with shipping is about the same as you would pay from a retail establishment .
the secret is to buy a large amount so the shipping is less per pound ..

make sure its packed properly and gets to you asap there are federal guildlines on shipping food HERE

Other foods like gift packages consisting of cheese, crackers, jams , teas etc you buy at xmas and send to friends /family as presents, present no health or safety problems and we have on accasion sent those to aged aunties in far flung states .

We did receive one time as a token of good will from a company we where doing bisiness with a package of * omaha steaks * that were each cut to exactly the same size and the sort of thing that is usually sold to restuarants .

they were very tasty but very expensive glad we didnt pay for them .....
When i lived in the UK, before we were married, Mrs S shipped me some twinkies. We're always sending people back home stuff from places we've been, or sending fancy things like those Harry & Davids candied fruit etc..
I see food shipped everyday at work (A big parcel delivery company) and its always a great idea when you can't think what the hell to get somebody. I only wish that we could get cheese from the UK, but they won't allow it cos it makes US cheese look bad or something.
grin
Thanks for the replies. I think I'll go with the steaks. They come individually frozen so the poor dear can take one out in the morning then she's got dinner that night.

Oh, I sent her a Breville grill s few months back and now se'll have some thing to cook on it.

The thing with Twinkies is they taste the same whether they're brand new or an old package you find at the back of the cupboard when you're making a Bachelor's Delight.
