So... i had a market fresh sandwich from Arby's here and the bread was very similar to Mighty White that i had in the UK.
Does anyone know a similar bread available in the US?. Im presuming its some kind of whole grain thats inside the bread? maybe? the only kind i seem to be able to find just has the little bits on the outside and not in.
I really do not mind if its white or brown bread
Many thanks
Adam
We use Health Nut, when we use sliced bread, it's good, no trans fats, low in all the baddies, high in all the good stuff, otherwise we eat Beirut style pitta breads or lavash( parchment bread) or the Mexican white bread, which is close to a French bread.
oh good grief don't get me started on bread.. never been a fan of sliced bread in a bag other than the stuff from tesco's that cost 19p a loaf. I get in trouble for squeezing, er, the loaves in supermarkets here (sorry, had to be done) trying to find something that can't be reduced to a tennis balls sized lump of dough if one squished it all up. Theres wholegrain stuff thats really expensive we buy now and then if I've not got a batch of ferment going, but otherwise I make my own. Pretty much abandoned meat now too, think I had some kind of crisis recently cos everywhere i looked was meat, steak or burgers or brats or chicken. We were in the grocery store and even the deli counter salads had meaty stuff sprinkled over them!?
Feeling better now, lots of green vegetables and whole grains. Right, I'm off into the entertainment to rant about the shocking state of tv.
Generally bread in the US is quite disgusting. I have tried everything for sale in Supermarkets and it is all wothout substance and just plain bloody awful. My favorite is granary bread which you just cannot get here so I go a bakery and spend $6 on a white loaf that I can put up with. I hate food here..
Here's a potential recipe http//recipes.egullet.org/recipes/r263.html - You might have to try either making it yourself or go to a local bread place to see if they have it. Apparently it's a sourdough base which I never knew.
