In todays NYTimes (3/14/07).

Many of the wives are going after the NFL to get their husband medical care bills paid.

NFL said it will pay up to $88,000 per year or an outside assited living facility and up to $50,000 per year for living at home and is rushing the application forms for payment out.

Dr. Eleanor Perfetto, a Senior Director at Pfizer Drug Company said the $65,000 per year outside living costs to look after her husband Ralph Wenzel(age 64) a former player with the Pittsburg Steelers and the SanDiego Chargers, will eventually bankrupt her retirement accounts.

Seemingly, last month, Ted Johnson(age34), former New England linebacker was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease.

The neurologists say the cause is due to the concussions footballers get while playing the game. shock shock shock
Its a touch sport one of the biggest for perticipants having long term medical problems (boxing being another ) example mohammid aly .

there is a programe for ex football players to take care of there medical bills but i dont know if all athletes are covered going back that far ..

remember thou these guys play voluntarily and know the dangers.
they earn in a short time much much more money than any of us could dream of in a lifetime . some of them unfortunatly leave the game with life long medical problems ...

I shouldn't think very many do. I mean, how would you diagnose it?

And here are your presidential football trivia questions for the day

Which president called the Miami Dolphins to suggest a play during the superbowl? (it didn't work)

You want a sporting Prez triv Quiz? oh OK then, here's a couple more lol

Who has a collection of 250 signed baseballs?
Who (according to legend) started the tradition of the 7th inning stretch?
