Boring question but I've googled and oxford dictionaried until I can do it no more. An Anglican vicar has the following letters after his name

T.D., B.A.Hon, C.F.

Allowing for the possibility of typos in the article in which I found this vicar, can anyone explain the T.D? The C.F. could be "Chaplain (Forces)", but that's the only one I've come up with, but the T.D. has me stumped. A Doctor of Theology would be Th.D. unless, as I said, there was a typo. Oh, and I already know what a BA Hon is, before anyone tries to explain that!

Any ideas anyone?
Unlikely and probably unhelpful but...
TD is a member of the Irish parliament

Theological Dude?

Tickler of Daschunds?

Total Demon-hater?

Two Donkeys (that'd be his gangster name - Charlie "Two Donkeys" McVitie)

As you can see I don't know either..... roll
I did learn that an S.T.D. is (apparently) a Doctor of Sacred Theology. Not an abbreviation I'd want to add to my name....
Is he Irish? I think it's the Irish equivalent of an MP.

He needs to get rid of all that excessive punctuation.

Or Team Deacon

http//www.crockford.org.uk/staticlisting.asp?id=131&let=t

perhaps even more likely -this site also lists CF as Chaplain to the Forces.
I'm supposed to be producing flashcards on the presidents, not googling vicars..... mad

Bet you've never done that before!

Thank you for the many suggestions. I especially like Tickler of Dachshunds.

It might help to know that: he died in 1977, he was welsh, he got his degree at Aberystwyth, he was probably never an Irish MP. He could well have been an arymy chaplain during the war though.

I'm still going with Team Deacon -did you look at that site?
Yes I did look at Crockford and I agree that seems to be a likely candidate for TD. I don't know if they used terminology like "Team Deacon" in 1954 - it sounds like a more modern term, but Crockford should know.

Thanks )
