OK, so I may have been alittle naughty here. When I moved back I left some cash (a six figure sum) in the US as it was earning a decent amount of interest and did not want to move it back to the UK at the lousy exchange rate. I did anticipate it getting good enough to move during the year but that has not transpired, so it is still in the US.

Last year I filled out a tax return and all was rosy. Now this cash is the only money I have left in the US and despite several calls to various places nobody seems to be able to give me a definitive answer on where I should pay tax on it.

Any ideas ?
