I may be in a rage tomorrow. The BBC weather reports have been warning about "heavy snow." They've even been warning of "drifting snow."

So why might I be in a rage? Because they're predicting "several centimeters." lol Seriously, if everything shuts down I may go mental.
Not several centimeters of snow?

I was listening earlier to the weather forecast for western NY and Oswego will have over 100 inches of snow.........
That's pretty deep wink
Is it just my imagination, or are the kids of today wussies? D I'm sure 'when I was a lad', there had to be at least 6 feet of snow before any schools were closed. Even then we had to walk to school - didn't have the luxery of a bus coming to the door.

On Monday and Tuesday, there was barely an inch of snow and all the schools were closed. Mind, it was bloody cold.

Oh no, thats way too cold for snow.

So I'm now awake at 5am for the great blizzard of 2007. How many inches? Well....none . There is a white frosty bit in the back yard. The radio is talking about a "lucky escape" for most of England. Which would explain why the 24 hour Tesco closed early last night due to the weather..... lol roll
Lucky sometimes that I live in texas dont get that stuff here ,the nearest you get to to piles of *snow* here is if you look in a dallas cowboys locker . lol lol
My brother in Croydon said they got snow this morning but it is now slushy mess.
No schools and businesses didn't close.
I find it hilarious to be honest and just glad I don't live there any more.

However, I am boring the pants off my friends and family back home when I talk to them and say 'We have 20 inches of snow, a temperature of -20 (-40) with windchill, and yet everyone & everything manages to function, so stop your whining'

And yes, poetic license (or 'excessive exaggeration') is used when reporting snowfall and temparature -)
Its warming up bit here finally. Hovering around 10c that's 50f in old money.
I know this is an older thread but I was just there during the UK's "blizzard" and also found it laughable.

We were due to go to London on Thursday on the train as we had theatre tickets and a hotel booked. To watch the BBC I thought we might have to cancel. However, the trains were running on time from Cambridge, we got to London where the snow had no impact whatsoever and had a good day.

It was probably also my own fault for watching News 24, but I found Gavins assessment on how British TV news has gone downhill accurate. There was I swear a ten minute interview with some semi literate kids about how they were enjoying their day off school because of the snow.

Interviewer "What do you think of the snow then?"

Kid "S'good innit? "

Interviewer "How have you been spending your day then?"

Kid "Me and me mates have been throwing snowballs like"

Journalism at its finest. roll
The "heavy snow" is what I have, only about 2" but it weighs as much as a foot. we had snow and then freezing rain. I don't know when I'll get done shovelling. I didn't buy a new blower because this is my last winter when it will be my responsibility. The wind chill is fierce, so I'm limited to short sessions because of emphysema.
Temps here in WI are set to rise above 10F this week! Whahey! Heatwave! 8)

LS, you be careful. Can't you get someone else in to do it for you? Pay a teenager or something?

I used to worry terribly about a lovely couple across from our home. They have moved now. I would see the two of them trying to clear the snow while it was still snowing! We used to send the kids across to do it for them. Then their son came to live with them with his wife and when it snowed we really thought their son and wife would get the snow sorted. NO!!! How wrong could I be. She was holding the baby and he didn't like clearing the snow
