British Expatriate Network

Well, doing a bit of research and it seems I took over running Britnet between April and December 1998 which means next year will be Britnet's 10th anniversary! So, if we are going to party, we might as well start planning.

What I would like to do is get a headcount of how many people would be interested in attending so I can get a location and blocks of hotel rooms reserved too for people who wish them.

I know several chefs who would be able to cater for us and maybe do British stuff like Cornish pasties, steak & kidney pie, etc. for a meal and I can invite local British shops to come along with their goods so you can pick stuff up without paying shipping and we can maybe do some other fun things for a weekend.

There will obviously be a cost of the catering and I can't foot the entire bill so my poll asks how much you would be willing to pay for a catered dinner, and what other events would you want to do? We could get a large limo and do a pub crawl of Dallas, get a half decent curry somewhere, well, you tell me!

And finally, what sort of dates. I know kids will be off school and there are lots of things for kids to do and we can arrange baby sitting for the evenings.

So, let me know!

In theory, but Texas is a long way from Michigan, Toto! And it would need to be family-friendly -we have no rellies to leave the sprogs with, remember? That's why we need you lot! ;)

We on the other hand do have rellies (in Ft Worth) and I would like to come but his hubship is being a boring old fart and trying to put me off. My only desire is not to have it in Texas at the hottest time of year. That said, I can't promise that I'd be able to come anyway, but it would be fun... wouldn't it.

I would come even tho Texas is a long way from here, it is somewhere we have talked about visiting, riding down on motorcycles.

Well we will ride ours as well then, although for us it will only take about 5 hours :wink:

Im game although dates might be a bit tricky .we are going to virginia in april alaska in june . england in sep .

Cost we spend anywhere beween $40 ? $100 when we go out to restuarant , so im open to the cost .

Firm up a month, I haven't been to Texas, well apart from a stop over when Dallas was a cow town. lol

I may even make the trip to come back just for this - not that I need an excuse, but you know how it is - give me something to save up for.... grin

It's going to be a trade off between the weather and pulling kids from school. I'll put up another vote for the month later ;)

I've already had people ask for it when you're not available, don't hurt your chances more than you have to ;)
