Does anyone here watch hockey?

My beloved Colorado Avalanche sustained a horrendous 7-0 defeat tonight against the Detroit Red Things.

I am gutted.

Just wanted to share.

I like near Raleigh NC and things have gone barmy over the canes round here. I watched the Red Wings come here early in the season and blow us out 5-2, but we are a much stronger unit. Gonna be a good series, but the canes are gonna meet the best this time in a best of 7.

Be rooting for us cos I think we may must need it!
Which team throws squid on the ice?

I seem to remember that being a question on "Who Wants to be a Millionaire".

I saw a game in the UK once as I got a free ticket from work - it was the Bracknell Bees against Guildford Flames. I found it a bit annoying but now I'm here, I would probably quite like to go to a game. No teams around here though - they are not really into ice sports.
Mitch,

I'd rather root for the Hurricanes than the Red Things any day!

Pilgrim,

It's the Red Wings that throw squid on the ice but I don't know the tradition behind it.

Ice Hockey is about the only US (or should I say North American) sport I've picked up on, probably because I played field hockey at school and it's a much faster version.
I used to watch the MK Kings (Milton Keynes) back home all the time, but the NHL is a different class. I agree the Hockey is one of the better sports here with it's free flowing action.

Oddly the local newspaper here, when reporting the results puts it in the Ice Hockey bracket, just not to confuse these poor southern folk lol
