I'll make this a quick post and update the whole story in more detail for you when I am feeling a little better. On Jan 4th I went in to have an ovary removed (due to cysts) and a small benign tumor. The surgery was done laproscopically. I felt really good for the first couple of days and then felt rotten - was in lots of pain. I finally went into the emergency room on Jan 8th. Turned out during my lap surgery the surgeon accidentally cautery-burmed a hole in my colon - the size of a quarter! So basically I came into the emergency room with a belly full of poop and my body was being poisoned! If I would have waited another day to come in I would have likely died. I am now stuck with a colistomy bag for 6 - 8 weeks while my colon heals. I then have to go back in and have it put back together again.
Anyways... there's lots and lots of details to tell but I'm not up to writing it out quite yet as I just got out of the hospital today.
Oh my god, how awful for you . . .I can relate to your op, I had several of those before they realised I had another problem, then I had the whole lot removed. Just a couple of weeks before moving here, I had to go back in as I was in excrutiating pain. Mine was a mass on my bladder, which when the surgeon went in he decided to leave it be, as a catherter is something I didn't fancy taking on the plane with me.
I do hope you continue to fell better, put your feet up and rest now
Shit oop wrong word, but bet it made you laugh lol
Whats the redress on the first guy that screwed up. hope he is footing the bill for the second op. Get well soon and rest .
How truly awful, you poor thing. I hope the first surgeon's insurance not only pays for all this repair and recovery, but covers a nice holiday to help you get over it all.

I hope so too.
I can't imagine how awful this must have been for you.
How awful! I hope you feel better soon. I wonder if the first surgeon knew he had screwed up and was hoping it would all be ok...
That's just terrible. I'm sure everything will eventually turn out fine and the surgeon who screwed the whole thing up pays out a very large sum.
So sorry to hear that, it sounds just awful.
Hopefully it will be a quick 6-8 weeks and you'll be better soon.
Thinking of you.
That's very tough, you have my sympathy.
What does happen in situations like this. I am not a sue type person, but surely the 1st surgeon show pick up the bill for the second treatment and recovery. Your insurance should pay nothing at all.
You poor thing. Our pal down the road, one of the guys in the band, perforated his colon round about Halloween. He had to go back in to have abcesses removed, apparently the vacumming doesn't always get everything. He's on a bag too. Mind he'd been leaking for a week, yikes.
I hope you're feeling a bit better by now, don't forget the acidophillus, really useful with this problem and when taking antibiotics.
Whatever you do don't pay any bills until you get the third one, you'll find the insurance people get really involved if you don't pay immediately and actually listen to what you have to tell them.
Now, no lifting, no nuts and seeds, and no spirits unless you're taking the probiotics. All the best, isn't it marvelous that all you get these days is a distorted belly buton, mine looks like a squashed donut. Hoping your other scar isn't too big, either way, demand that scar cream. It's very good for wrinkles round the eyes too. grin
I truly hope you feel better soon and find out how you can get compensated for all the pain and suffering. Rest a lot and eat all things Annie said, it will sure help you. I have had so many surgeries in the past and now my doctor wants to do a endometrial ablation shock and I am scared to death, due to same risks of having the bowels and other organs burned. Small chance, but one never knows...
Keep us posted of your progress and hopefully you will be feeling better soon
Much love!!!!!
Such an awful experience, I wish you a full and speedy recovery.
Thanks all for your well-wishes! I'm starting to feel a little better today - getting more energy and things.
Unfortunatly getting the original surgeon to pay isn't going to be easy. My sister spoke to a lawyer and he said winning this was not a sure thing. The reason is because I had a hysterectomy 7 years ago when I was only 24. That surgery left behind a lot of scar tissue which made this surgery a little more difficult. So far all I have been told by the original surgeon, the patient advocate at the hospital and the lawyer is getting getting cautery-burned on the colon is "just a risk of laproscopic surgery" - in other words it just sucks to be me. I'm still going to get a second opinion from another lawyer that I have been refferred too so we'll see what happens. I'm not looking to be a millionaire but it would be nice to get the bills paid and be compensated some for the pain and intteruption in mine and my families' lives. The first week of this was the most painfull and scary thing I have ever been thru, I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.
Thanks Annie for the advice on the acidophillus. I had been eating yogurt but still managed to get thrush in my mouth and a yeast infection. They gave me diflucan for that but since I am still on 2 antibotics for several more days my sister ran out and got me the acidophillus - hopefully that will help keep the yeast infections away! Oh and I also developed an abcess. Fortunately they found it while I was still in the hospital and they put a drain in which took care of that. I had a cat-scan on friday to make sure the abcess was gone and that no others had developed.
Thanks again everyone!

I hope you get well and make a full speedy recovery. 8)
