...because there's no toilet paper or ketchup at the grocery store. I remember people going nuts and buying 3 gallons of milk and 4 loaves of bread, but cleaning out the toilet paper aisle 2 days before christmas is demented. And ketchup? Why would everyone be buying extra ketchup? We went to Sainsbury's at 8.30 this morning to buy a few things - meat for christmas dinner, some general bits and bobs - and the place was very busy. People all over the place with carts filled with more chocolate then they could possibly eat.

So you done all your shopping? I was never really a big consumer during christmas but being back here is revolting. Christmas IS consumerism but in a naff "buy this crap now" way, (it's not like Christmas is for christians in the UK) with special christmas offers on the weirdest stuff. On a 4-pack of bitter at my local corner shop is a tag saying "the perfect gift for granny this christmas."
Just got produce and bread to buy, but I haven't even gotten out of my pjs yet, and it looks cold out, am having more coffee and thinking about it, don't like sprouts anyway, maybe they might sell out. twisted
Yes, got it all this morning. Have been snowed in for three days so I thought it would be worse, but we were out the door by 8am and back by 1130. This was going to the mall as well as grocery stuff. We're not having dinner around our house so I don't need to buy that much food. One thing I was looking for was a tin of Cadburys fingers but couldn't find them. Oh well.

Didn't notice the store being out of anything really.
I got my Cadbury's fingers from Wallymart....not the cheapest but what the hey.

Going to pick up a box of Irish bangers from our local market in a bit...they order them specially for me. Oh and got to make some more mince pies as we are down to our last two!!

Debs x lol

I bought 2 gallons of milk and 7 loaves of bread yesterday ..... and that's just our regular order (should have bought 4 gallons actually, but couldn't remember if beest had got 2 or 4 the other day. Now I have to go buy 2 or 3 more tonight. Might get 4 if I can squeeze them in the fridge so I can avoid going out on Tuesday.

lightweight! :P

Oh, and 48 rolls of bogroll. That might last the week roll
I tell a lie. Mr Dianey reports that one grocery store is out of eggs.

So I say, did you try the other two........

No. He didn't.

Sounds about right for my family.

my wife went completely beserk, the fridge, freezer is absolutely heaving right now and if you open the pantry...well...just don't. And what is so ridiculous is that the stores are closed for just ONE day. How much can you eat for christ sake??.

Right now downstairs we have leftover beef stew from yesterday, leftover breakfast from this morning and now there is another chiken stew from tonight that we just about managed to eat half of, and I have to cook the Turkey tomorrow. God knows where we are going put it all. On Tuesday a 40lb box arrived from my mother in law and inside was boxes of cookies, cheese, crackers, salami and candy. Quite frankly I am literally running out of room to put it all.

We are all completely insane.....
