We had a big storm come through last night and apparently, 180,000 Oregonians woke up without power.

I was one of them and the power went out about 8.30 pm for me last night. I was just done cooking dinner and sat down to watch some TV and at that instant, with great comedy timing, everything went off.

I have a shrub uprooted, plant pots strewn round the yard and two large pots at the front overturned but otherwise, couldn't see many problems. Someone lost a roof tile that ended up in my front yard but I couldn't tell who it was.

No power when I woke up and it affects our water as well as I just about had enough for a shower last night but no pressure at all this morning - I think maybe our community well is electrically powered or something. Had to bring my stuff into work and hope they got power back earlier.

Turned out that the city I work in did get power back this morning and I could see lights on houses and working traffic lights the nearer I got.

Hoping they get power restored soon but as I'm a rural customer, might not be back until the weekend so not sure how I'm going to organise things in the meantime. Just keeping my fingers crossed for now.

Ouch - you should get some Ambusol mate. Seriously though, it's being played on the news here as The Day After Tomorrow so good news that you're alright. Hopefully it'll be sorted out for christmas so you can microwave some jimmy Deans

That's the thing about Oregon.

If it snows or a storm comes through, it is treated like "The Day After Tomorrow" but in reality, I think the average winter in Minnesota or New York is probably 5 times worse.

We're just not very prepared out here for bad weather.

Shotguns and MREs. What else do you need?

/neighbours have anything worth looting?

It was windy up here as well. My power didn't go out but a box of empty beer cans flew off my balcony. Oh well, hopefully some bum will find them.

What would be even better is if they broke a whole bunch of windshields.

/gotta keep money in circulation
//vandalism is good for the economy

How are you managing now Pilgrim? I saw the storm coverage on the news. That was some storm!!!! 100 MPH wind gusts in parts. Bloody hell.
I know it's not your fault, but if it blows down here I'm gonna blame you, then pass it on to Vegas wink
Northern fairies.

We always hear on the news about the latest "storm to hit the midwest and northeaset" two frickin' days after we've been buggered by the very same damn storm. Because of course, this is Colorado and we should have expected snow the day we settled here. But heaven forbid the same minging storm should touch Kansas............

I hear from my brother in law in the Seattle area via email that he is without power. So, how did he manage to send the f**king email then?

Until you have been stuck in a nursing home for 36 hours sans break because you lived close and nobody can make it in because of the weather with people that want to piss on you in German, do not come crying to me. Which is precisely what happened to me when 3 ft of snow descended on Colorado in 2003 and the nation was distracted by the start of that fucking Iraq war.

Grumpy in Colorado That Doesn't Bitch About The Weather Regards.............
I know what you mean Diane. I used to live on the coast and storms like that would come through often but the valley, 50 miles away was untouched and didn't care.

My power came back on about 3.40 pm yesterday - I was at work and saw my home computer come back online which was cheering. When I drove home about an hour later, I could see the Pacific Power guys working hard down the main street in my town and the whole city was probably back online by 5 pm.

This storm appeared to be curling up into Oregon and then Washington/British Columbia and California didn't seem to be in the path at all. Supposedly it killed a few people but I think they were all in Washington - one drowned in their cellar and two drove into downed trees I think.

Hoping it takes me about five minutes to clear up the mess in my yard - didn't look bad out of the window but I'll have a good look round later today.
