Hi guys, sorry I haven't been here for a long while, my daughter is 3.5 now, so I guess that's how long it's been. I'm hoping to get more time now my son's nearly 6 months.

I've been here in Mass for about 8 years now and still haven't the foggiest what flour to buy which is the same as

Self Raising Flour .............. alternative here is ?
Plain Flour ........................ alternative here is ?

If I can find out exactly, then maybe I can make more food and not miss so much english food and throw the english cook books around my kitchen as much in frustration.

God this website really changed too, Monster/Nigel please don't shout at me if this has already been answered a mil times (I have even less brain cells now after the 2 kids than I did before ..... if that's possible).

thanks guys

So you are still here? wow, Nicky!

All-purpose = plain flour
Self-raising = self-rising BUT for good cakes, use Cake Flour rather than all-purpose - it's finer.

Any help?

Hi KG,

Yep, in a manner of speaking (I have no life), I take care of my kids and thats it - definately don't take care of myself !!! Was laid off a year ago when I got pregnant with Caden who'll be 6 mnths old at Xmas. So stay at home mom now.

They sell S.R. Flour at the Stop&Shop ?

I get confused with all the flours that say with bleach, without bleach bla bla
