I really enjoy the blog of the Curmudgeon. Yesterday's blog led me to these items

The student unions several universities have banned the Christian students associations from membership and the use of premises because they discriminate against non-christians and gays, etc.

A bunch of bishops is claiming discrimination.

And the Church of Scientology appears to be trying to buy favour of the London Police

The university I work for does not have any religious groups listed as affiliated organisations but they do use the facilities and are not stopped in any way.

On the other hand, there are gay/lesbian organisations that are affiliated as student organisations but they don't stop non-gay/lesbians from using their facilities or attending meetings/functions so perhaps that is the difference?

Groups like Campus Crusade for Christ hold a weekly meeting near my office but can't get funding or support as other groups can. The Catholic Newman Centre is located off-campus and have their own building/facilities.

On the other hand, political groups can get funding support although they seem to be out of favour lately. There used to be desks for College Republicans and College Democrats but I haven't seen them in a couple of years - maybe the leading lights graduated and the new crop can't be bothered?
surely if you ban one group or another you are discriminating against someone ummmm maybe people should learn what it means lol
