Either way something is. I am online at carmax and hunting down what may be my first car!! A little scary, a little exciting again maybe just the wine lol
Anyone own a Ford Explorer?? If so how do you like it??

Oh I wasn't just enjoyed a single glas whilst waiting for hubby to finish up his work for the evening. We've both been working our tail ends off getting products made for a craft show in a couple of weeks.
Sooooooo no one likes Ford Explorers here?? They have good safety ratings on Kelley Blue book. I want a car, 3 rows but not a monster petrol slurper like a Expedition or suburban.
Any suggestions and not a Mini Van :???:
How about one of those Peuget 505s? They have 3 rows.
I class any car not made in US as european .
Ummm....

Why an SUV?
They tend to be thirsty and like to roll over little too much.
Also, unlsess you actually go off road, they are often no very good on the highway in snow.
There are other, less costly and safer, vehicles that might meet your needs.
I'm not an expert by any means, but I's recomend you cast your net a little wider, look at 'crossovers' or some of the soft roaders. Also, Toyota and Honda tend to come top of the reliability ratings. Contrary to JohnA's view, British built vehicles tend not to.
Also, even if you search online, or even ultimately buy online, nothing beats getting in the vehicle or a similar one and driving it around. Go to a dealership and have a look. Just my HO
Hi Rob... well yes you are right I looked at the Honda Pilot but seems to cramped for my liking, the Explorer seems to have compatible thirst for gas as our Xterra. I was looking online at CarMax for what is available close to me right now I would obviously go and see the car before I buy it just doing a spot of research/window shopping. As for a test drive no can do right now as can't drive roll

What about the Ford Freestyle, derived from the Volvo S80, comes with AWD and three rows of seats. Probably uses less gas than an Explorer and sits lower to ground and is thus less likely to roll.

I wil look into that one too, haven't seen any in the price range yet though. Thank you smile

Have you been reading those American geography books again?
I like some American cars - since Daimler got their paws into Chrysler, they've really turned their line around and incorporated a lot of European innovations. I bought a Chrysler a while back just after the buy-in and it was crap but since then, it has been apparent where the German engineering is being used here.

For the love of God someone stop this woman....whatever car you get, no matter if it is a sedan a sports car an SUV a truck or a hybrid DO NOT BUY FORD, go to consumer reports and you will see that there are very few models that are even moderately rated. You can get them cheaper but instead of an explorer look at a Toyota Highlander or a Honda Pilot, get one a few years older if you must but do not buy a ford, they are poorly made, disappointing cars. I know I have one.
I find the interior of Fords quite bland which puts me off nowadays. When I had a Windstar mini-van, it was getting recalled several times a year for retroactive safety or engine fixes. Probably just a particularly bad year (95 I think).
