Just three weeks after being told by the INS that they had no record of me whatsoever & that I would have to go back to England to start the whole visa process again....I received my Green Card!!!! smile smile smile
They are truly stunning in their inefficiency aren't they!?
congratulations

Doesn't really surprise me Loubee! But congrats on getting the GC.
A couple of weeks ago I received my daughter's renewed greencard in the mail. The very next letter I opened stated that the INS couldn't issue a card for her as the fingerprints she'd had done were not good enough ???
A friend in her 40s was recently told that her fingerprints had worn away with age. They are such nice people at the INS lol

Winge Winge. In the UK, people complain about the government being too free with the immigration process. Those same people complain about another country's process for being too restrictive. I guess it all depends on your perspective and whether you are the immigrant or the host.
Just my humble opinion.
(PS, I've been through both the UK and US immigration process)

I wasn't complaining about the US immigration process being too restrictive. I was merely commenting on the fact that after having been approved for a green card & living in the US for a year I was told that the INS had no record of me & that I would have to leave my family and go through the whole process again in England. Then the following week I receive my GC!!! Just thought it was amusing that's all. Did not mean to offend anyone.

Loubee,
No offense taken. I can understand the amusement and have had similar instances myself, trying to get my son registered as an American born abroad.
Glad to hear everything worked out in the end.

Woah. eek That's pretty scary. And it sounds insane that they were planning to send you back to the UK. sad I'm really glad to hear you got your green card.
take care, Jennie
