My sister in the UK applied many years ago for permanent resident status in the USA. We think it may be coming up fairly soon, however as it has been about 8 years at least, their circumstances have changed and they may take longer to decide if they really want to move. Is there a timeframe in which they have to make up their mind? Statute of limitations, that sort of thing?
Eight years for an application???????

yep. thats how long it takes for a permanent resident application under their classification. She is married and applied through her sister, which is one of the lower classifications

Wow. So if my bruv wanted over on my back he'd be older than I am now when he gets here... geez...
So can anybody answer the original question? When they give you the gren light how long do you have before you actually HAVE to move here?
8 years is a short time to be honest. Philipines / China siblings of USA citizens are wating around 15 years right now.
