Is this what its turning into now. The fact that you are told that you should respect others believes and at the same time told to hide your believe because it may offend someone else's believe.
I think the veil and the cross debate is quite appropriate at the moment and if they think that this will end up with riots etc you have to ask yourself the question. Does a real Multi Cultural society really work?
In the debate with the cross and veil you have really got to say that you can wear what you like no matter what or you ban all religious garb ie veils, crosses, turbans etc etc practise your believe's in your home or Church etc.
I think we as a species have shown that we have no clue how to get along with one another. Pretty sad really.
I keep reading about this ahd how its wrong for a muslim women to show her face to anybody but her husband ,,and yet under strict muslim law women dont work and have no say in politics ..seems these folks want it both ways if she want to keep her face covered fine then stay at home .........
they (muslims ) need to be told and very strongly Laws in uk are made by a fully constituted and democratically elected parlament . not by some outdated and bigoted religion ..
if thet doesnt agree to those rules .. F..KING LEAVE
You left there John.
The point is that they were not told that that it was a requirement of entry, so John's rules are a change. Do you want to throw them out? If you do, are you moving back to be able to vote there?

Hi all,
This debate on 'muslims and veils' is getting physical. A mosque was attacked yesterday. Tempers seem to be running high over here in the UK. There does'nt seem to be much support for the wearing of veils amongst the tabloids. I must say that Shepherd's Bush seems to have become a lot more 'muslim' while I was in the US.
Since we've got back the flat next door is occupied by a women who wear's the veil. No chance for the usual hello's and she just ignores me whenever I walk past
(though she did invite my wife around for coffee). Given the choice I'd rather live
next to someone who's face I can see.
Don't know why this women bothers with the veil as her husband as abandoned her when she arrived in the UK from Somalia . Thankfully - good old ealing council has stepped in to cover all her bills (she has 3 kids!). (I know the landlord and he''s getting a £1,000 a month from them).
So as a Council Tax payer I'm not very impressed. I do feel like 'pushing back' a little on muslims. If they want to treat their women like chattels and leave them ignorant and illiterate they could at least pay for it themselves. The UK is clearly a soft touch.
Seconded Cappellrossi's post. Well said. grin
Good to hear from you Cappellrossi.
I know that the area of Paddington that I'm from has changed a few times, but i cant imagine the Bush going Somali. i wonder what the crowd at Loftus Road looks like now.
The big danger is the damned media, keep thrusting the apparent insults under peoples noses, until they feel it.
Look it's the "does a falling tree make a noise if there is no one to hear it", thing. If I insult a Moslem, I insult that person. If a paper prints the story, all the Moslems that read it are insulted. Of the thousands that read the story, five go out and insult a Christian. Now all five stories get in the paper with a reiteration of my original insult. Now the Moslems are reading about my insult for the second time, and the Christians are reading of five insults to them from Moslems. Now, twenty five Christians go out and insult..........Politicians make speeches about cracking down on moslem violence......
Over simplified? yes. Are we exploited this way? yes. Why? because it sells papers and earns votes.
I need to go back to the idealism store and replenish my supply.

A few facts on immigration for you to 'tsk tsk' at though nothing about the ethnic mix of QPR fans.
I guess this Muslim thing will blow over eventually -- after all we've got hoardes of Bulgarian and Rumania arriving in January to work 'on the lump.'
I'm slowly drifting to right-wing political views. I'll soon be in favour of National Service and the birch.
I don't think you are drifting to the right more Cappellirossi I do think that people tend to turn to the right when they feel their way of life in under attack.
I look at kids and then look at us as adults. We still have the same hang ups and have still not learnt anything really.
Its like kids playing with toys. They cannot play together with them, so we as adults come out and say you need to get along or i will take the toys away. They still fight and therefore you come in and take the toys away.
The same attitude should be taken with all veil and cross stuff. play nice or it all goes.
France seems to be in social upheaval now because they went to soft on an anti social behavior by a number groups.
Compromise is a two way street and should be equal. I tend to think people believe that it seems to be all give and no take.
if thet doesnt agree to those rules .. F..KING LEAVE
how about, if some of those muslims just happen to be law abiding tax paying british citizens..........
Right? If you say to a person of Arabic descent who was born in the UK "****** go home", where do they go to?
Right? If you say to a person of Arabic descent who was born in the UK "****** go home", where do they go to?
Knightsbridge? Least that's where all the arabs I know lived.
You left there John.

They should have been, anybody entering a country other then there birth country should aquint themselves with the rules and social habits of that place .they seem to know all the rules about s/s and free health care very well .
next your be telling its okay for a immigrant to drive on the opposite side of the road cus when they came in they where not told road rules ... b/s .
And its alright for a husband to stone his wife to death if she is unfaithfull cus they where NOT told is illegal here .
wether they where told or not they are here now so obey our rules and traditions same as we observe theirs when visiting there country

You assume that the muslims referred to are not UK citizens and not natural born UK citizens. Many, possibly most are.
As such they have as much right as anyone else to protest the laws - so long as they do so lawfully.
The problem is that there is an entrenched judeo-christian majority in the UK who may not appreciate the difference of opinion.
It's all Denmark's fault.
John speaks for many people. As I said the "PC " stuff seems to have been pushed to far and is now being counter productive.
Rob I think it was Norman Tebbit that got in trouble when he said that UK born immigrants always supported the country that their parents or whatever was born.
He questioned why they did not support the English cricket team (apart from the fact they were playing crap at the time lol). They showed no sign of really wanting to be part of the British way of life so to speak.
