Hurricane season is almost over and we had no big scares this year. Yeah mrgreen
Cool humid free days started last week but so did the rain and since last Wednesday it has rained and rained and rained.Guess what we have been doing since 2am?? evil
Lifting furniture, pumping out water and watching the Bayou break its bank roll evil
Of course it could be a lot worse. Micks raised flower bed (aka The Levy!) really helped keep the water at bay and so far we are managing to keep it out of the main part of the house but it wasn't high enough to cope with the amount of water coming from the Bayou. Our garage is under water as is the utility room and game room.
We are having a slight reprieve but our forecast is for heavy rain again today. We are fairly stranded as well as last night we took our vehicles to a neighbour on higher ground. Good way to not go to work on a Monday morning, eh mrgreen ???
Sorry to hear that Cel. I've seen some of the footage on CNN and it looks a real mess in the Houston area.
Wow, sounds like you guys have your hands full, I hope you get some relief soon. Good luck and stay safe.
Aw Cel, sit down somewhere dry and have a beer. You'll feel better. Hope you dry out soon grin
came through here Sunday and Monday morning. We needed the rain lol here.
Hope you dry out soon and not to much damage done.

Hmmmmmm..........this was a bad Monday!
It has finally stopped raining and inside my house there is wet and soggy carpet, wet tiles, water under kitchen cabinets. Everything was stacked up as well as possible but a lot of furniture got wet.
My house stinks and apparently even though the rain has stopped we now have to see where the water will go when it peaks at high tide.
I'm waiting on a phone call from the insurance guy
I don't like Texas much today.
Spent all day cleaning cleaning and more cleaning and of course our cool front has gone so we worked in 90 degree heat all day. We are getting too old for this! The insurance guy hasn't arrived yet and we were told as so many people have flooded it may be another 48 hours before we see him.
This is so ridiculous. The drainage is so pathetic. We now have an unsellable ( ? ) house that will continue to flood out until the local drainage area decide there is something they can do to alleviate the problem. In the mean time they allow houses to be built all around us making our problem worse.
We also have a lot of renewing and replacing to do again. Until the next time............
twisted
That's just too bad. Do you have a neighbourhood group that can lobby the local authorities about this problem?
I remember in an earlier thread you had said you never had a flooding problem until recently and it was something to do with new construction.

Thanks di
Actually it has now been going on for four years. We have been to numerous city meetings, county drainage meetings and have even had the The Corp of Engineers out to look at the bayou. Problem is we always get bumped for another area that is effecting more people. I'm just tired of all the hassle and all the money we have had to spend on cleaning up and replacement. Fifteen years ago when we bought the house we weren't even a flood zone now we are rated as one of the worst areas. Our flood insurance has tripled in price in the last few years
Oh well, could be worse. One of our neighbours decided to quit paying for flood insurance. He is now really regretting it
Such a shame to read about your house damage Cel neutral
I hope you can get things sorted out.

Thanks mate.
I had to go back to work today and quite honestly I was glad to get out of the house for a while. The only problem is we are due for more storms this afternoon and this evening and the Bayou hasn't receded yet from Monday
Whats that saying again, "It never rains but it pours......... "
Oh Cel, I'm really sorry, it unbelievable the amount of damage water can do. I can just feel your frustration with the drainage situation or rather the lack of it! It seems so unfair that nothing is being done to help. I hope you get some better luck soon.

Tried that. People dont want houses that flood
Sorry you've had the problems, cel. It sounds like time for action; placards, block key intersections, let the press know, then move on so they don't arrest you and then do it again somewhere else.
The noisy axle gets the grease.
