Surely its not the fact he is gay thats important here, it should be the fact he sat on the panel about the abuse of kids and he was abusing a kid.
I did learn something new I always thought the USA was the same as the UK with the age of concent different ages for, where your bread is buttered so to speak lol.

You could say someone on 'The O'Reilly Report' made a mistake but come on - the show doesn't even go out live and is taped hours earlier.

I know he has been labelled 'paedophile', but i haven't seen any info that would lead to that conclusion. The youths were apparently above the age of consent when they got down to business.

I'm afraid the whole alcohol, clinic thing is more cynical than you realize.
While he is in the 'clinic' it is pretty much impossible for the media to get to him. Hence no interviews, doorstepping etc. It also makes it more difficult for the police and FBI to get to him and interview him (not that he will answer questions).
I'm guessing he will be discharged sometime just after election day.
The age of consent varies between states, and also is affected by the respective ages and gender's of the parties and whether one party has some position of responsibility or fiduciary responsibility towards the other. For example I am prohibited from having a sexual relationship with a client.
In this case I'm not aware (mainly because I don't follow that closely and don't watch US tv news) that Foley actually had 'sex' with any of the pages. However the IM's I read (on Slate) were classic grooming behavior - which can be a criminal offense of itself (think of all those saddos who communicate with 15year olds online, set up meetings with them to have sex and get there to find an ABC tv crew or local cop waiting for them.
Thus Foley may well have commited some serious crimes. More significantly, certain senior Republicans may have know of these offenses and either failed to report them or, more seriously, actively concealed them.
As I say, Foley will not be coming out of rehab anytime before the election.
