Anyone else done it, doing it?
I'm currently working from home and truly enjoying the experience. I'm a night owl anyway. What time is it? D Just couldn't stand getting up early in the morning and doing the 9-5 jobbo.
I just love being able to work when I feel like it and not having any real constraints. Although I do have a few monthly deadlines, I still have free reign to work when I please.
The only thing is that I've started to get a bit bored with my current field of work and would like to try something completely different. Getting away from the corporate world has given me new life and makes me believe that all that "climbing the ladder of success" is a load of bollocks to be honest. Just haven't quite worked out what I'd really like to try my hand at.
Any suggestions?

I've been doing it for about three years now. Its nice to work dressed in 'sweat pants' and T-shirt, it doesn't matter if you don't shave or shower, don't have to sit in traffic for hours, etc. It was particularly nice during the world cup as I could watch almost all the games while I worked.
I do miss the everyday office banter though. I also get the feeling that because you're 'out of sight, out of mind', that it pushes you off the corporate ladder because no-one can really notice if you're doing a great job or not, so you're not considered for advancement (if most other people are working on-site).

What work are you currently doing? It might help with the suggestions!
That said, I guess in an odd way I work from home, but not...
For now I am but every 10 days I go and work from a race track somewhere in the world, but it's not for everyone. You really have to be terribly good at self discipline and motivation.
Andrew :)
Adshell - I love working in me jim-jams! I'm not worried about corporate advancement at this stage so having the opportunity to work from home is a proper treat.
Andrew - I work as a Financial Consultant / CFO and currently do all of the accounting for one firm. I should be getting one more client which would block off a total of about 100 hours a month, leaving me with a lot of "spare" time.
I have done a few paid "voice-overs" for a few companies and am thinking this could be quite lucrative and interesting.
To be quite honest I'm bored to death with accounting and just want to try something else a bit more creative.

I used to work at home and found I worked harder at home than at the office.
No 7.30 till 4 you are on the go 24/7.
People think you can just drop your work and go for a chit chat any time of the day therefore that project in the spare room gffice does not get finished.
If I had to do it again and had the money, I would open an office a mile away from home and walk to and from every day.

Thats true - there doesn't seem to be any separation between 'work time' and 'free time' because I tend to goof of for a while during the day, but then work during times I would normally be at home.
On the plus side, I always seem to get more done since I don't waste time with the office 'chit chat' that occurs.
