Jewish holiday today.
The kids are wondering what to do with themselves because hardly any of their friends are able to hang out today (many of them are Jewish) but I'm enjoying not going to work and getting chance to catch up with college stuff (falling behind too soon in the semester which is not good).
Hubby is in the UK visiting his mum for her 70th Birthday. Unfortunately, BIL has been rushed into hospital with gallstones that have created some other problem, and because his sister won't drive (I was going to write doesn't dirve but she can drive, just won't roll ) hubby is helping with the running around of kids and sister right now.
So, who else is off today?
)
I'm off this morning, I have a medical for our adoption, but the fun and freedom will end at midday.
Not a chance. I don't think we have enough Jews out here to warrant it.
Kids were off from school Friday for teacher training but college kids don't get that.
No school in our town today. My 14 year old son and a dozen of his friends plan to run riot around our backyard with airsoft guns. I realise that some of them are Jewish, which puts me in a dilemma because they're not supposed to eat on Yom Kippur, so I'll feel bad when I give the others snacks......but worse, they're not supposed to wash or wear deodorant either, and teenage boys smell bad at the best of times shock
Good luck, eastendboy with your adoption plans grin - any idea when it'll happen?
Turns out my wife has decided to take the day off because China has the week off and she works with their government, so she said she was going to clean the house....she really needs a life!!
One of the things you miss when you retire is getting days off work. It's a big drawback.

:razz:
That said, I think my parents have a far busier schedule (retired) than I do (working). It's a wonder they fit any time in at all for snoozes, between their trips out, volunteering at the local arts centre, helping neighbours with their gardens and 3 cruises a year!
Yes mine had the day off. However not due to there being many Jewish people in town but because apparently most of the teachers are Jewish. They are also meant to be having Columbus day off as they are going on strike - no contract.... Suits me fine as I'm enjoying having the kids home.

:lol: Are they still at it! When we lived in NJ over 6 years ago the teachers were causing a stink because of not having a contract. First they work working to hours (not staying after school was finished) and then yes, they took all holidays off that weren't on the calendar.
Our kids have Columbus Day off too but it is scheduled :wink:
No one off here 'cept me who doesn't work Maine doesn't have a big Jewish population.
Jewish holiday today.
S'pose you're off next week for Columbus Day too? :shock:
