I unearthed a couple of full album MP3s of JMJ the other day. Brings back memories...

Listening to Oxygene and Equinoxe on holiday in Cornwall.

Listening to Rendezvous thinking of the Shuttle that went up in smoke - the last track was scheduled to be played on that flight.

Watching the concert Destination Docklands in the pouring rain one October evening in 1988. I got fired that day. My boss wanted me to finish some work up before Monday. He didn't want it done Sunday when I was going in to volunteer at the kids' ice hockey game (I worked at an ice rink), no, he wanted me in on Saturday to finish it and have no-one touch it until the Monday morning. He said "you come in to work or don't bother coming in again". I went to the concert. No way I was missing a JMJ extravaganza.
Nice - I only saw it on TV but it was quite impressive. I've seen the Houston and Paris concerts too. Was Hank Marvin playing live on "London Kid"?

Funnily enough, I dug out some JMJ a couple of weeks back and was enjoying it at work. I used to be able to play most of Equinox 5 on the Casio in my youth.

I think he renamed that song from Rendezvous to "Ron's Piece" and Ronald McNair was originally going to play it on his sax or something from "Challenger", whilst in orbit.
I was at the docklands in 88. Even with the rain it was great lol and a very long walk home lol
I've actually been a Jarre fan for years...I've got most of the CD's. I'll record my version of Magnetic Fields II for you guys sometime )

The masterpiece of my collection is the 10th Anniversary Box Set with Oxygene, Equinoxe, Magnetic Fields, Concerts in China (Double CD), Zoolook, Rendez-Vous and a special edition of the Lyon/Houston concert cd with extra tracks. Got Oxygene 7-13, Chronologie, Waiting for Coustea, Jarre Live (Docklands Concert), Metamorphoses, Rarities and Les Granges Brulees, Revolutions and Hong Kong concert. I also have the Twelve Dreams of the Sun concert on my hard disk somewhere.

And 3 music books, so I guess I could say I'm a fan...

It's The Last Rendez-Vous - Ron's Piece and you're right. It was going to be played by French astronaught Ron McNair.

Also, since you talked about Equinoxe 5...if you can play that, you can also play Equinoxe 8. It's the same song but different note lengths :)

...and the coolest thing is, everyone knows what "redécouvert" means.

Ahhh, education.

I had Oxygene on LP and CD, Equinoxe on cassette and CD, Rendezvous on LP, The Essential on CD, Revolutions on CD, Destination Docklands (Live) on CD, Waiting for Cousteau on CD. Lost track of his career after that point, except for hearing a few tracks on his techno crossover albums.

I used to play the VHS of the Destination Docklands concert with the TV muted and play the live CD simultaneously-ish.
