Worst download of the week. Haven't tried it much on my Mac but on the PC, iTunes 7 is junk so save yourself and don't bother downloading it until Apple fix it.

Shame as the new ideas were good but it is so resource hungry, it's not even funny! Yes, I really want to have my music break up and distort when I'm downloading web page content or doing something on the desktop.

Let's not even talk about ALL music sounding distorted right after the installation. Fortunately, a quick check in Windows Media Player suggested it was an iTunes only bug and sure enough, the forced upgrade of Quicktime that occurs when you download iTunes had set the sound to 24 bit instead of native 16 bit - a manual change takes care of this but it's going to be a bit scary for users to begin with.

Give it a miss until 7.1
Quicktime says it is 7.1 on my PC

Yeah that's Quicktime (up to 7.1.3). iTunes is still 7.0 although it does have some Quicktime stuff featured in it.

iTunes does behave if you can be bothered to sort through it but it's a real pain in the arse for a while.

ummmm makes me wonder if thats what has happened to my PC. Since the upgrade from qtime I have lost all sound lol
It still plays up, even after I worked on it for a while. Seemed ok for a bit and then goes right back - it's too resource-hungry and the annoying thing is I've got a decent, 24 bit sound card in there that easily handles the sound processing in games and has a bunch of RAM on it so it's just poor programming.

I might just uninstall it later and reinstall the older iTunes 6.
Thanks for the warning. Have you tried it on your mac yet?
Not a factor for me. I'd rather buy CDs than pay what iTunes wants for downloads.
It's at times like this I recommend y'all subvert the system and use P2P.
Well 7.1 was released yesterday and it's certainly an improvement.

I did manage to slow it up once or twice but they were brief and forgivable, unlike last time. My system is no spring chicken (circa 2001!) so you have to make allowances now and again.

Never had any problems with my work PC which was state of the art about 2 years ago but downloaded the new version anyway. The Mac seemed ok but I barely use that for music as the built-in speakers are quite tinny.
