I know they are both covering Premiership games this season but with Directv it is $12 a month for the sports package (which covers FSC and lots of other sports channels we dont watch) and then another $11 dollars a month to also get Setanta.
We have always had the package with FSC but I'm not sure if I want it anymore as they have a nasty habit of putting the scores along the bottom of the screen now and sometimes it is even the game you are watching!

I'm too tight to pay out the extra for 2 packages so who would recommend Setanta over Fox. Is their commentary Brit or American? Do they show scores without warning? Any input??
First of all, a warning about the price. I originally thought it was "just another package" so would fall under the decreasing price system for multiple packages. It's not. It is 11.99 per month. Actually no. According to a letter I received a short while ago from DirecTV the all-new, higher EPL content Setanta with their overflow channel 670 will cost "just" 14.99.

I haven't watched a game on Setanta this season that has been played concurrent with other games, from what I can remember at least. So I can't say if they have any spoiler scores. Any they do have will be what's shown on the original feed from Sky, Beeb or ITV.

Whereas FSC has a teeth-grating Max Bretos or simply annoying Nick Webster preview the fixture and then cut over to the original audio and video at kick-off time, Setanta shows the entire show from the original channel, so you get all the half-time comments from Alan Hansen or whoever. They just cut away from the commercials.

If I had to choose between the two, I would choose Setanta because they show more sports, not just footy. Setanta shows Premiership rugby, Irish sports, etc

However FSC has the useful EPL Review Show, very handy to keep up with the entire league's action, and also Sky Sports News for daily news.

So I get both. Yes it's $24-$27 a month, but if I didn't get it I would watch maybe 5 hours of telly all week. House, Standoff, Justice, Life on Mars, and the odd re-run of something. The extra cost makes the $49 for "basic extended" DirecTV worth it.
I dont get it i thought the price was prohibitive .

i do get the premier games live sound only on serius radio included in the $6.99 a month price .

Direct tv programming is total choice plus hbo / showtime at about $ 77 a month and i add on sunday ticket for the nfl games every sunday ,we both like american football so the cost is worth it still trying to get my wife to be enthuisatic about real football .

What with getting up early on sat morn to hear the premier games, and staying in sun aft to see the nfl ,and watching a few movies from netflix every week i get plenty of in house entertainment .
Seven bucks a month for Sirius? Are you grandfathered in or something? I pay $12 or so!
